Hey Appsy my bro inlaw has a 10 bolt 2.62 ratio I think would be good with your 308 & trimatic great for highway crusing He also has a turbo 700 he has adapted to a 202 you could look at If your diff is a 3.08 you would need the od trannie to keep the revs down My camper has 202 3speed auto & 3.08 diff & does 2800 rpm at 100 ks would be too many revs for your 308 So if you want make a time to come out to Teli Point & we can talk BEDFORD & maby give you a few hints about changing rego from QLd to NSW Cheers Reid
Hey Reid sent you PM Cheers Appsy

to answer question about T350 and clear few things up.
Turbo 400, 350, 700 autos all have turbo bolt pattern.
v8 trimatic auto has v8 trimatic bolt pattern
straight 6 trimatic autos and manuals only came with 1 pattern.
holden 253 only came 1 pattern v8 trimatic
holden 308 came with both turbo and v8 trimatic pattern
hence the need for an adapter to run turbo box on v8 trimatic pattern
ben
G'day Ben thanks for all the info very helpfull, another question for you how wide is the adapter plate for these boxes and is there enough movement in the spline on the tail shaft, also wanted to get some prices for the bits you sell, the dash, engine cover etc Cheers Appsy

Hi Mick Welcome from another Port Macquarie ite Do you know what diff ratio your van has By the way it looks good hope to see it round soon Cheers Reid
G'Day Reid and thanks for the welcome I got a few things I am going to tidy up before she hits the road though. The diff in my van is out of a VH commodore, its a 10 bolt but I am unsure at this stage what ratio it is as holden had 5 different 10 bolt ratios. Once I find out I will let you know. Cheers Appsy

If you're planning to do many highway miles, and keeping the van for a while, get a Turbo 700 (4 speed auto).
You will soon get tired of the high revs at speed with a turbo 400 or trimatic.
Hi Zeeman thanks for the advice and yes it here for the long haul and it will be doing HWY K's, couple of questions what about the electronics on the T700 and is the bolt pattern the same for the older 308's I think it is an early commodore red motor Sorry correction black motor

Hi All a very tired trimatic gearbox (looking for a turbo 400 if anyone knows of one for sale).
My advice is to look into it before buying a T400. The bolt pattern is different so you will need an adaptor plate and then shorten the tailshaft or move the motor forward. The other alternative is to redrill the back of the block which is a job in itself. There have been several magazine articles about building bullet-proof trimatics and it is not a major job. I would suggest by the time you buy the T400 and do the conversion, a rebuilt Trimatic is a viable alternative.
Regards
Thanks for the advice did'nt know that what about the T350 is that the same bolt pattern ?? does it match ?? I have never rebuilt a auto how hard is that to do ??
