For Sale / 78 CF Semi Camper Conversion for sale
« on: September 14, 2013, 01:53:19 PM »
Hi All,

The son has given up on fixing up the beddie I bought him and it's for sale... the space is needed.

I bought it a couple of years ago... it has an approved 5 seat conversion from QLD that isn't worth a damn in the ACT but may be recognised in NSW. I just don't know enough about the NSW regs to tell.

253 Holden V8, Celica 5 speed and full HQ running gear.

It runs fine, I drove it home from Broadford in Victoria and out to the farm where it's currently stored. Sits on 140 easily thou thirstily.

It has a sink inside, as well as a convertible bed & table as per the photos.

Someone spent up big on it at some stage as the interior is all colour matched.

The van is currently being stored on my outlaw's farm 10 minutes outside of Canberra on the Federal Highway.

$1000

Hi George,

Thanks for the words....

The rear door thingy is just a steel plate that's been put across the back as a certification requirement for a 5 seat conversion. The rear seat is across the back where the rear doors use to be. Apparently the hole formed out the back was used as a tool box rack of sorts. The towbar has angle iron brackets that the tool box could slide down into. What I'm hoping to do is get a fibreglass rear panel with a spare wheel cover moulded in to cover over the hole. The current spare wheel space would then have a water tank fitted underneath.

We both like the look of the glassed in flares and spoilers so they are on the cards as well.

The van is for my stepson... a muso, to camp in on tour as well as lugging the bands gear round in for gigs.

So... a bit custom, a bit camper....

She's fairly tidy... a bit neglected and run down but an excellent start.

Greetings All,

Well, after months of searching our family's first Beddie has arrived. Picked up from Kilmore in Victoria and driven back to Canberra on Sunday...

The GusBus as it's being called by my younger kids has been modified with full HQ running gear, a 253 and celica 5 speed... LSD 2.78 diff, new spring, shocks and bushings...

The motor is old... and the oil smoke filling the cabin under engine load leads me to believe she might be a bit tired :)

The interior had a major makeover a few years ago... just needs new carpet and a decent clean now.... 240v electrics (fridge and lights) will have some 12V cousins soon.

The arse has a gaping hole formed by the welding up of the top of the rear doors and the insertion of a panel to form a tool box recess... so a fibreglass replacement panel over the hole is on the cards... if any of the fibreglass guys here want the work, along with a set of flares and spoilers, PM me :)

Can't wait!!!! :)

Thanks for the reminders guys...

Some excellent stuff on the forums... especially the pages on flares etc... seeing some of these pics reminds me of the glory days in the 70's... I've been pouring through old copies of Australian Custom Van and Rodder magazines for a few days now :)

Hi All,

No real preference as to type of van... my son is studying music @ Uni in Sydney and just needs a reliable set of wheels to lug all the gear around to gigs... plus camping gear etc when they hit the road to play in Byron later this year.

Budget is bugger all... Austudy grants being what they are... 3G or so at the most..
