For Sale / For Sale: Bedford camper pop top LWB
« on: April 10, 2012, 10:15:36 AM »
After traveling around the whole of Australia in our Beddy, my wife and I are passing on the flag to the next Bedford fan. Many months were spent fitting out the interior camper style so that we had all the necessary luxuries to tour the country. It was very spacious and the envy of most travelers we met along the way. Here's a bit of a description:
1980 Bedford, Long wheel base, pop top camper
Holden red 202 (reconditioned 90,000kms ago)
Aussie 4 speed Manual
Dual wheels
Dual fuel (gas/petrol)
Highway diff - ford 9inch
Interior:
Kitchen sink with switch operated electric water pump and tap
60 litre water storage
60 litre Fridge with freezer compartment (240v/12v)
Twin burner gas stove with over top folding bench for extra space
4 drawers in kitchen including cutlery, pots, plates, glasses, mugs, utensils etc
Pantry cupboard for food
4 interior lights
Fiberglass pop top. When up plenty of room to stand and make dinner etc
Large clothes cupboard, plenty of room for two
Double bed that folds down to table and chairs and large storage under
Curtains
Ply floor, insulated under, carpeted on top
Insulated engine bay and front floor with heat proof and sound deadening insulation
Insulated walls with car carpet over top
Electric fan for warm nights located over bed
Electrical:
CD player mounted in overhead console with split speakers in front and 2 more in rear
Dual battery system - main starting battery and deep cycle
120 watt solar panel mounted on roof with regulator that constantly feeds deep cycle battery
Fuse box running between batteries and all electric appliances (CD, lights, water pump, fridge etc)
Exterior:
Rear bolt on swinging step bar with tow ball, spare wheel and bike rack. Allows you to swing it out of the way for back door entry
Bad points:
Rust - forming in usual places. Around gutters, lower rear quater panels, a few random spots but nothing major.
Head Lights - recently have been flickering. Most likely a simple loose wire but something I just haven't got around to fixing.
Gauges - petrol and speedo have never worked but gas and temp gauge work fine
Good points:
Near new front tyres
Heaps of mechanical things undertaken before going around Aus to make it tip top (brakes, hoses, etc etc)
Mechanically - well drove us over 25,000km's around Australia with little drama. Anything that did pop up was simple and fixed right away. For example, new leads, spark plugs and distributor cap were needed once, new points another, and a carby clean out the other. Even through 40 degree heat doing 9 hour days of driving over the top end, it never over heated or played up! Everyone keeps saying these motors will just keep going forever.
Registered until July 2012 (WA plates) but located in Tassie. Can help with delivery if needed.
