Driveline / Blue 202 oil pump
« on: March 26, 2012, 05:32:59 PM »
Hi all,

the engine in my camper takes about 5 seconds to get oil pressure when first  starting it after it has been standing a few days.
Is this an oil pump issue that can be fixed easily?

Thanks

What do you know! They did send the wrong size lower ball joint.

OK - for those that want to know - the part numbers for ball joints -
Top-BJ24,
Lower- Early vans (approx 41mm dia) BJ268,
         - Late vans (approx43mm dia) BJ148
Tie Rod ends - TE476R

These were from George Stock and Co.

I've now got all the new parts fitted and with a few more jobs to do will soon be set for the summer holiday!

Disk Brakes / Re: Disc brake conversion
« on: November 29, 2011, 06:13:18 PM »
Hi there all, I had an interesting conversation with a guy today. I was talking to a guy that works for George Stock and Co. in Auckland about ball joints that I had bought from them (in a post I made about front suspension). Turns out that they had given me the wrong size and while we were sorting that out he said that he used to work for a company that did 202 engine conversions on Bedfords that were being built as ambulances over here. The other part of the conversion that they did was to convert them to disc brake front ends. They simply did this by fitting HQ discs. Not just the discs but they fitted the HQ top and bottom arms, hubs, calipers and all! Straight bolt on he said!

Does anyone know of this being done or even done it themselves?

I  thought it was cheap too! That's why I got all four ball joints rather than just replacing the one that they failed the WOF on. I'll post the part numbers after the weekend, after I have fitted them and are sure they have supplied the right ones. Turns out this company imports these parts and are the supplier to Repco.

Hi there all. Just to let you know that I did get ball joints.  I got them from George Stock and Co. I found them on line and costs were $34.13 for top, $36.75 for bottom, and $22.84 for rod ends.(all plus gst). I wasn't keen to pay the $496 for the arm bushes though!  Good service, ordered one day and they arrived the next. Guess what I will be doing this weekend.

Hello Scotty, aren't the mk1 and mk2 doors the same. Three years ago I bought a mk2 for parts and the doors went straight on my brotherinlaw's mk 1. Didn't have aproblem.

Hi Busy, the one I have has got rust right accross the bottom front edge. A bonnet that is going to need less repair than this would be an advantage. Dents I can fix easily, rust I'm not so good at.
