Cheers Bas.

Its looking likr I may have to go with the Mopar axle. Cresta bits are rare as hens teeth in the UK. I will keep looking until I have taken delivery of the motor though.

Hi Jeff,

Thats handy to know as we did have Cresta's over here. Although parts are getting rare for them and hard to find now, I am sure something will turn up.

I think I have found a good Rover V8 and transmission for very good money, I'll extend the hunt for a Cresta diff now too.  8)

Cheers

Thanks guys. I am currently on the hunt for a Rover 3.5 V8 and Borg Warner auto box for the beast. Once the conversion has been done I will look at fitting Land Rover's injection system and LPG. The only thing I am unsure about at the moment is what to do about the rear axle. I think the lowest ratio axle is 4.4:1 which is far too high for what I want the van to do, I need something a little closer to 3.5:1 and am considering a Mopar 3.23:1 rear end. The Mopar axle is a little narrower leaving room for some chunky wheels, but the jury is still out on that one.

Hi all, I bought my CF a couple of months ago and stumbles across this site while looking for information on possable mods, and what a cool site it is 8).

She's a '75 CF220 Autosleeper with the weedy 1800 motor in her, and one of the first things I need to do is change that bloody engine, it struggles like buggery to get up the slightest hill and uses more fuel than my 5.2 V8 yank beast. I feel a V8 conversion coming on, if ist going to give crap mileage on fuel it may as well do it with a bit of attitude  ;D.

I will be floating about frequently asking daft questions about what can be done and for advise on things. I am a bit limited on what I can get for her though as parts for these are getting rare in the UK now
