CF Bedford Chat / vn v6 conversion completed
« on: January 20, 2016, 10:18:22 PM »
just wanted every one to know if want easy power upgrade the v6 has been very easy conversion all wiring hooked up working the only thing need to exstend was gear box wires too short I managed to weave through the vn wiring to get everything where it was need  including central locking electric windows cruise control and electronic push button auto shifter for 4 speed box custom made engine cover and new shape to floor cutting out wheel arches on front floor have added about 3 inch lower floor giving more comfortable foot height on accelerator pedal custom made brackets for brake peddles to accommodate cruise control cut of switch and few other little mods now done we have butterflied the side door will be fitting elect rams to open close on inside of the side door we fitting led TV screen which pop down as door raises up we also putting fully computerized sound system with 6000 watts sound still can not decide color yet i thinking flat black with chrome using liquid chrome paint and some ghosting's for some pics in flat black any one got any good ideas as to many the same out there like to keep this one different from rest I put some pics up the old girl still looking bit tatty but the out come will be good enjoy pics I have remapped the vn computer for little more fuel and power I don't think we going to have much tire tread left we now getting 178 hp to back wheels with Torque net: 292 Nm  with this it should give us 7 to 7.2 too 100km phr we doing with exhaust we going each side one into three pipe outlet which built into the side panels with flex joints and lot rubber to cut vibrations so end up with 6 exhaust tips lit with led and smoke machine to create the affect its flaming out the exhaust cops going to love me when see it fake lol because we haven't started to restore the rear of van yet I am deciding to add another 34 inches of another van to give it little more length then fit in spa bath mobile spa could be fun at next car show with those cute little girlies running around in bathers lol

Wanted / Re: Power steering info & help.

oh forgot to say after we completed this steering arm mods we found out for only 200 bucks an engineering could made us one but too late and ours was and is legal the only laws that can affect this sort of mods are insurance companies according to the rules so makes them either show cars or daily drivers depending on your state laws and insurance providers but it total safe if is done right now I didn't mention and should have we had to have it heat treated when done forgot to say that sorry guys for any confusion in most cases for lot old cars when restoring them parts very hard to get or non available so mods are needed in most of all mods when done right can be legal if done right but there is laws different in every state

if steering rack comes of fire wall it has to be mounted onto front of cross member or it will steer wrong way just to touch base on welding you have to be a certified engineer to complete this type repair also if already a welded joint as long as it done right it is not illegal but do agree with other posts comments it very important to check your local laws too mods and yes please make sure these sort of mods are done correctly I agree I wouldn't drive it if not done right good call

we removed the factory fitted and replaced it with Toyota power steering form corolla 4x4 wagon we extended the arms and made custom bolt holes on front of cross member the angle and position of steering links are in perfect line up and angles are great I made custom hydraulic hoses to fit Holden efi v6 standard power steering pump to corolla power steering box there small and got plenty power to move the wheels it also has higher turn ratio so turning wheel seems quicker very responsive and accurate because the corolla bolts onto the fire wall give you ability to mount on front of cross member very easy conversion except for custom arms we just cut of the cf joints extended the corolla arms then fitted the cf joints to it fully welded tube over the whole arms for strength 6 to inches or so was welded into the new tube so tube added was end to end full length from box to ball joints  or can use standard Holden power steering arm and make custom brackets to bolt to front cross member done this too we use vr parts
