Had this exact problem.
Bashed away for a while with no joy. Tried soaking in WD40.
Wanted to turn the pin instead of hitting it but very hard to hold the head of the pin that only has 2 flats on it.
Lateral thinking ... put the head of the pin in the vice and turn the crossmember back and forth.
Eventually loosened enough to remove with simple tapping.
