if you use firefox instead of "e" or "Netscape" you can choose to keep records of all your passwords...
it will automatically fill your passwords boxes and if worst comes to worse you can look in your options and see what your passwords are for all your sites. also when you log in click on forever. (some sites don't have that option)
also some sites will forget you if you have told your browser or virus protection to not accept cookies or order your browser to delete them when you close down. you can change the settings to keep untill expire.
i have firefox set up to keep all cookies but i do not allow cookies... if i want to keep a cookie from a site i like i change to allow then enter that site then switch it back to don't allow.... the cookie from that site will be left on the list and your protected again.
