???mmm....bugger! 202 turbo'ed is still impressive though!
-
Tabu was always cool 202 turbo chrome rear and unique front rurmours are the guy who bought it off your mate chris? still has it and it sits lonely in the shed calling your name....... 8) ::) :D
-
have you herd what condition its in now days craig?
-
no I haven't last I heard it had a small ding in the front spoiler. :)
-
wow..its a close run...
-
tough one, but I went for Gardian Spirit , but Van 58 came a close second
Warren
-
far out its crazy how everyone has different tastes.. i rated tabu 1st beast second then guardian spirit..
hey even innocence got a vote...
-
Go Tabu Go!!!!!
-
yea gogo Tabu
INNOCENTS
is a very underrated van, in show conditions would be right up there with mystic fantasy ect but as this thread suggests its really more about personal taste which levels out the playing field alot
-
those earlier vans were classics and got me motivated in the world of the beddie, saw the beast in all its glory man that van rocked, admired innocents but that tabu ..... she was the buziness for me, last time i saw it was driving through ringwood a good many years ago tabu for me choice as bro!
-
Warren I like your taste, my vote also, but heck I reckon any of the vans listed are sh$t hot!
Innocents deserves an extra vote for being different to most show vans, and I would love to see it driving around in Perth far more than the others in the vote for that reason, but I would prefer Guardian Spirit or Van 58 for my van if I hadn't already fallen for my old unreplacable rust bucket.
I love the front grill of an orginal early CF, I reckon it would be difficult to improve the original bedford designers version for the front end, perhaps a front spoiler would help but I am not convinced yet.
There must be a show van with all the fruit that still has round headlights and a bedford grill? Craig have you got the van photo I am referring to?
Dave

Hehe Dave.
Yeah I too like standard beddy bodies with slight updates Gardian is one of the few beddies I have seen that the wheel and flares combo looks "right", most look, well un balanced :D
I also agree that its pretty hard to beat the standard grill, but from the bumpers down things could do with a tidy up, once again Gardian and Van58 have that covered.
I do like custome work, but Im a big function over form guy and mods for the sake of mods don't do it for me.
Ive been into bikes since I was a kid, and I'm a bobber fan rather than a chopper fan, take all the un nessisary stuff of and make it light fast and practical.
With vans its comfort and room and classic lines I prefer.
But hey doesnt mean I cant apreciate the time and effort someone puts in to a custom.
Opinions are like arseholes - everyone has one, and everyone elses stinks :D

Yeah i voted for innocents...
For me there is something about the paint and design of the van, i find it like one of those trick pictures (like the type you stare at and suddenly you see something made from dots)...it almost appears like the van is made of cardboard, like its foldable, doesnt matter how real i know it is, everytime i see it i think its fake, or a toy....The others of course are fantastic, and the effort that goes into them, is undoubtably admirable....but when stuck to choose between 4 very similair vans....i chose the 1 that sets its self apart... obviously this is in the year 2009, and maybe if id seen them back then, things would be different, as each of them would be unique back then.
But with the Beast i like it all, but i cant stand that fordy looking front, for me i just cant warm to it.
Tabu....almost hits the spot, i do love the grill, but i think for my taste it comes down too far to the ground, out of proportion with the sides of the van.
I too love Guardian Spirit, love the colour the style, but for me the grafix have that feel of last minute...gunna do something type thing, and i prefer a thinner pointy front flare....not so much the box type. I do agree however that the wheel/flare combo is perfect on the rear...which as mentioned is rare.
Vantastic: i dunno, it just doesnt seem qite finished...when put into the catagory of showvan anyhow, and bullbars arnt my taste, BUT the front is extremely appealling, which is hard to find, and i myself find that the design of the front is probablly the 1 thing i wrestle with, but i think the side flares should be bulkier to match it.

Hey Ben, Tabu apparently is tucked away in a shed. When it was last at the Van Nats it had a new owner and when the guy went up to recieve the trophy he won he was boooood by a lot of people for buying some one elses van and showing it (what a pack of ar@#holes) Since then the guy has not been heard of and no one has seen the van. I have some friends who know the guy who had it and i am trying to find out who and where he is so stay tuned.
-
oh poor bloke.. thats a real shame we havent seen it since. hopefully it will come out again one day..

gday well i had to put my two cents worth in and get guardian spirit equal with tabu... cmon someone can help us win! i love the color and flares of guardian spirit, but i agree the murals are really second rate. i dont do the ford front either so in many ways i like van 58 more but not too keen on the color.. i met phil and the crew up in brissy and hes a great bloke and done all of the mods himself which is unreal! maybe one day when i have more time and money (yeah right!) i could try some of those mods too... take it easy
