Title: My journey back
Post by: BlackBedford on September 17, 2017, 10:45:26 PM
G'day
After a few years of driving other vehicles I am really wanting to get back into a Bedford.
I know it is going to be a task so here goes...

I will need to replace and update a few things and I noted the discussions about Kia Carnival seats.
I have been looking around and even though the Carnivals are dying, I have not been able to find one until this morning on Facebook. A dead one for $200. Trouble was another bloke was after it and he had first refusal. By chance we both showed up at the same time and I told I only wanted the back seats and seatbelts. He didn't have a trailer and I offered to take it to his place for the parts I wanted. Deal done! so I went home and got my Range Rover and car trailer to do the move. I had just replaced the 3 belts on the front of the motor but on the way into town the new alternator belt snapped. BUGA!
A 2 hour task turned into a 4 hour task but I now have the 2 rear seats out of a 2005 Carnival.

I was also looking at those seats as an option. There not so modern looking that they would look out of place in a CF.

There are quite a few of them available over here in scrapyards, the problem is that they seem to be all gray or when I find the tan leather ones they are expensive...

We used the kia carnival seats, outriding, but we didnt use the swival parts
For two reasons
1 we wanted to use the origianl seat bases and your head would be rubbing the ceiling.. makes you way to high up
2 we tried to reduce the number of modifications to the van for  engineers road worthy certifications..
Mind you it  would be a great plus for vans with side doors so you could use the seats turned to utilise it for relaxing in the van
But with no side door on our slider we have our bed base directly behind our seats so turning seats is pointless....
Even now with the saets directly on the bases i feel were sitiing up way to high....
