Title: Engine mounts required to convert from a slant engine to a 161 Holden engine
Post by: dustydmz on August 29, 2017, 12:31:14 PM
Hi All, I am new here so please excuse me if this question has been asked before .
I have just purchased a 1975 CF Bedford which has the 2.3 litre Slant Engine mated to a 4 speed manual gearbox. Both are pretty sick and need replacing.
I have purchased a Holden 161 mated to a Toyota 5 speed manual gearbox that was removed for another CF Bedford Camper.
My question is will the 161 bolt straight to the engine supports on the CF cross member using the Holden engine mounts or is there a conversion kit required to mate the 161 to the CF cross member?

hey there Dustydmz,

great to see another kiwi on here, where abouts in NZ are you?? welcome to the world of bedfords. the answer to your question is no it wont bolt up to the cf 4cyl cross-member, what you need to find is a Holden six cross-member and drop out the old one n roll under the new. that way you can set up the Holden 161 and trimatic so its all ready to go. unbolt the old cross-member jack up the van at the front -easiest and most straight forward way to do it, roll out the 2.4 and gearbox and roll under the 161, drop it down n bolt it up. easy done - you'll be surprised how easy the conversion is just to go to a Holden six - its probably one of the easiest conversions to do to a cf bedford

hope that helps or just want to yarn bedfords make sure you check out the nz pages on facebook if you havent already
