Since literature on Bedford vans is rare as , compared to other vehicles .
I have a simple question that l'd love to know the answer to . Apologies if it's already been discussed
here , but for some reason this answer has been very elusive for me to find.
Here goes.
Q: Did Vauxhall UK send to AUS & NZ . Complete Bedford bodies just minus the engine & transmisson .
For Holden to just slap in a good old red engine + tri-matic or manual .
Or was there more for Holden to assemble on arrival such as interiors .
Q: Part 2 : Or were Bedford bodies manufactured in AUS or NZ at any stage of their run .
Thanks Frank

Hi Frank,
The parts were sent from the UK to Australia and assembled locally adding the Holden motor/gearbox. For instance my van was assembled locally at the GMH plant in Dandenong, others were assembled in Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney. You can see where your van was assembled if you check the VIN plate and Body Identification Plate - see page 6 below:

There is an interesting 12 page brochure on ebay at moment about the Dandenong Bedford assembly plant but the seller is asking a bit much for it. You can see some pages below that talk about the assembly process:

hey Frank,
definitely a place to check out and read the brochures on the various beddies released is here http://www.bedford-cf.co.uk/brochure.htm (http://www.bedford-cf.co.uk/brochure.htm) yes they are they UK brochures but alot of it still applies as with Vauxhall being the parent company
From what I know from old timers some where brought in to NZ as already pressed parts and assembled at the GMNZ plant and later on depending on what it was some were assembled and others imported ie like my CF2 ambulance, was brought in as a cowl/chassis/front doors and then the fiberglass body was put on here in NZ
