Title: Donor Fuel filler housing with door

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a make/model of car that I can cut a fuel filler housing out of. Ideally I am after a round filler door from the passenger side of the car.

Unfortunately there's not many wreckers around here that you can wander around searching for ideal donors so I'm wondering if anyone here can recommend something?

All the "newer" cares I have looked at don't have an internal housing that the fuel filler pipe screws/bolts to. It seems most cars these days have the filler attached to the tank so it doesn't need to be fixed to the body behind the filler door.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Shane,   I'm looking at grafting in a vn fuel door,  had to chop out a lot of the surrounding metal to be able to make it fit.  also the fuel door cable should be long enough to reach it as well.   No i haven't got it done yet, will be some time before I do, but that's the one I'm going to use.

Hi Shane, I have used a FORD XA XB XC FUEL CAP WITH RING (Ians Gallery - 1976 CFS Bedford - Page 2) I have created a folder for you named FORD XA XB XC FUEL CAP WITH RING for your perusal, These original ford fuel Caps are situated on the passenger side although we successfully fitted it to the Drivers Side of the Van, Some still may be available on EBay or even Rare Spares, You can even purchase them with a Lock as Mine is,   Regards Ian

I had fuel filler door in below link grafted in. Magnetic spring door so no need for cable and cap has push thru centre making easy to fill.

That link looks good,  but does that metal part with the flap mean you have to cut and weld that to the outside?

I've got this issue too where I'm starting with a round hole in my drivers side and nothing else.  I've seen a few nice looking fuel caps online,  but normally they don't come with the internal inside flange to position behind the cap

From memory we trimmed front plate on left side to suit wheel arch and trimmed front plate as small as possible so as to cut as little out of van side then grafted in.

Have also heard of some using Suzuki Katana fuelcap but this now adds a risk for rust to form between two surfaces.
