Post by: johnb44 on July 21, 2016, 08:57:03 PM

G/day John,

The van is totally stripped down at the moment so picture is how it looks at present.

My LWB has a gull wing rear 1 piece steel door, it uses Holden HQ pannel van top tailgate hinges.
And struts to assist in opening and keeping door up.

Im just in the process if making a fiberglass gull wing side door and will be using the same set up as the back.
Between the tops of both doors and gutters i will be adding a strip of canvas so it will act like a gutter so water wont leak in between when doors are open.

Will take a few pictures when im a bit further into it.
The small door on the cargo door side is also gullwing.

Cheers marty

I made my own hinges and don't have gutters to get over. I might be removing the gull wing side door, as I've chopped my van I keep banging my head on it

If you screw an old bit of seat belt on inside hinge side of door and on pillar this will stop the door opening all the way.
Note, if you make it to long (go over 90 degrees) it will still open all the way. I've even seen someone use a gas strut on top of the door to stop it opening all the way

John,
Mine is  Cf mk1 which had no side door so I built the frame ready to go inside using foam and composites, then cut the hole, had one shot at it or off to the dump.its a fairly simple process as long as you do all the planning way in advance, send me your e mail address and I'll send you what ever pics I can find of the build pertaining to the door.
Composites do shrink so you need to take this into account.
Looks like a bought one
