It was a long time ago, but I'm sure I cut the end off an old holden tank and welded it onto the beddy tank. Of coarse I had both tanks out and full of water. Wa la, standed holden locking cap!

I just tracked down a brand new petrol cap from eBay in the UK.... Original item. So there out there if you search around....

Yeah I look on there every week... There's always Brand new items that you'd never find over this side of the world. I also picked up some more black CF2 Wing Mirrors, like the ones I have on my van now, but these are absolute mint & brand new.
-
yeh i got a couple of sets of new tie rod ends for my van for a cheap price.. was stoked..

you all need to share ebay names so we don't out bid ourselves
-
True story! But I think on eBay you can see the names like TradeMe, just says bidder1, bidder2 etc! Mines easy to realise though.

What cap to use? If you have a charcoal canister then you need a non vented cap as the venting is done thru the canister. No canister fitted then you need a vented cap.
From memory canisters were fitted from around 76-77 in Aus.
-
charcoal canister? that would be a small round drum looking thing with four leads going into it that is positioned below the brake booster and water overflow from the radiator?
if so i have one..... my beddy is reportedly a '78. (anything wrong with the 78? )
at the moment it has some sort of custom tank that at a rough guess fits 80 L's... hangs down real low and has a v shaped bottom.
when i put petrol in it (it ran out just as i was about to put it up the drive) it leaked petrol all around my feet in a steady stream.. on the inside i have a pipe that is just pushed into the floor and then bolted into position and it also has a rubber hose (ordinary house hose) coming out of the floor with it that has a stick jammed in it....
anyway so i need a none vented cap???? how do these type breath?

Able
Yes that's the canister, it's there to "soak" up the fuel vapor from the fuel tank as the fuel evaporates. One of the hose goes from the canister to the carby to draw in the "soaked up" vapor. It's all part of the emission control system.
I'd have the tank checked out. Hoses with sticks jammed in isn't right!
