The original barn door windows have a slight curve in the glass. Since I have new tinted glass all around apart from these windows I decided to investigate having the windows replicated in a toughened tinted glass to match my windscreen and front door windows. Took a trip out to Glass shape in Warkworth last Friday and they quoted me $1,500 for a pair ... yikes !!
So a while back Busykiwi mentioned that he has seen the barn doors fitted with flat glass, but I have yet to see this up close and personal.
Anyone out there in Bugaland running flat glass in their barn doors ? I'd be keen to see a picture of how they look.

Yeah they came out with curved and flat. The curve is only a one way curve (top to bottom), not a four way (top to bottom and side to side) so you could easily get your one tinted. They are just a bitch to put back in
I gave a set of straights away a while back, to Murray to use on his sandblaster (the viewing window) as the curved ones weren't sealing to well. There is a very small chance I might have a couple more up at my mums place. I hope to be up this week but the weather is going to be the deciding factor.
The curved ones are actually better as they hold the shape of the door (body shape), the flat ones tend to wobble and suck the panel in a bit
Yeah glass shape are shocking since they got brought out a few years ago, they wanted over 6 grand to make my windscreen.
Just don't use normal glass in any window - I know you wont but thought I'd throw that out there.

Thanks for the extra info Busy. My originals have some slight scratches on the inside. Probably not that noticeable, but they bug me. I took them to a guy who removes graffiti from glass, but the issue was that the scratches were on the inside of the glass and due to the curve in the glass his buffer wouldn't take the scratches out. From what you describe, the flat glass will probably bug me more than the scratches in my curved glass :)
My other option is to try to find a mint set of curved glass and then try to match the evergreen tint I have on my front windows with a plastic tint film.

Gordon, would have to train Zoe not to put her paws up on the window to look out... if you decide to tint.

Poor guy, think he's on his last legs
He had a turn a while back and while he was in hospital his family brought in the scrap dealers and cleared the front yard and side shed. Dumped all his vans and engines, including 9in diffs, holden v6 engines ... He was pissed but was happy they didn't touch his stash under the house (which includes the thames and zodiac). He still has a barn full down Matamata way, at his brothers place which includes lots of classics including 5 brand new, still in the crates ex army Indian motorbikes. He offered to take me down and show me once but said I would have to be blind folded or shoot if I knew where it was lol
