Title: fixed the diff clunk
Post by: LS120 on April 09, 2015, 08:24:30 PM
Hi all,

you may remember a while ago i had a problem with the diff going clunk when i let the clutch out,

well its been a long time living with the noise and 2 weeks ago i started getting a back lash whine
when i backed off the gas..

ohhhh boy more money to fork out.... >:(

so on Sunday morning i resided to check the diff oil level just on the off chance... you never know :-\

nope no oil leak and levels ok.

then i noticed the drive shaft... that dont look right i said... :o

so crawled under a bit more.... :-[

there it was only 2 bolts in drive shaft to diff flange.. and loose and only 8mm.... :-\

so measured and went to mite 10 mega.. 4 new bolts, spring washers and nylock nuts please oh and 10mm x 30mm.. thanks.

installed and guess what... both problems have vanished...

now just ti fix this damn cabby.

Sounds good,
its cool when a big problem turns out  to be small.
Are the new bolts high tensile steel?

good to see you took it as a joke.    if your going to the trouble of replacing your carby. you might want to look at a 34 ADM WEBER.

if your got a single barrel carby you can get a adaptor plate to go in beteen your carby and manifold BUT  this is not a good set up as the 34 adm webber is a 2barrel carby and this adaptor plate will not have good air flow at your higher rpm.  if your got the standed 2 barrel manifold you can get a adaptor to suit the 34 adm weber carby this set up is ok.  if your got the single barrel manifold   you can  replace it with a after market 2 barrel manifold like holley manifold and use a adaptor plate to suit the 34 adm weber. but this all comes down to money and time and what  mech ability you have. you can google lots of info on the web

if you were happy with your carby before it played up on you .it might be easyer  to fix or replace with another standed carby. whats the carby now on it doing wrong ?
