Anyone know what a web based email means?
1 went to join a holden ek- fb site and it said web based emails not permitted.
Its got me buggered. :o
I thought an email address was an email address.
Modern tech = gotta love it.

I'm with you mate, i thought you had to have a web to have an email, dosen't an email have to go over the web.  ;D :D ;) :o :o

im not sure how it distinguishes between them, even if its a web based access to the emails theres still a regular server behind it that sends and receives them like a normal one!

It means they dont like hotmail, yahoo, gmail ect.
Only email address from internet providers Optus, big pond, tpg ect.

Guess they think it's a way of stopping spam...
Oh and I would be "refused".. unless the got my .gov.au email address, and that ain't going to happen......

Hey i dont blame them ...all the scammers use hot mail and gmail...
and they will flood any site or email with crap!
and its a full time job cleaning it up!

I spent hours cleaning up the old site, :)
Havnt seen any drama,s with this new one except still no albums, :(

To be fair though, not every hotmail, gmail etc user is a spammer.
I, for example would never sign up to a forum or service using my domain name based email because they can and do get sold off (the email addresses) to marketing companies.
Using your internet providers email address can be a big no-no because people often switch providers and when they do they loose all their sign up details. I even forward my domain name emails to a gmail account and replies are via the gmail account. Who knows, one day I might forget to renew the domain name and all would be lost, or my web host goes bust or something ...
Is a catch 22
