Title: Steering universal joint
Post by: Postie Bob on July 03, 2014, 02:39:28 PM
The universal at the bottom of my steering shaft ( not the rubber thingy ) is buggered .  Is a replacement available ?
Cheers, Bob.

There is a post on here somewhere with a part number, I went to a bearing place and they got one in for me, cost about $25, but you have to get the groves machined in for the spring clips, I also got needle roller bearing for the lower part of the shaft, instead of the nylon bush, no play at all in the steering now

Cheers
Graham

Hope you get that sorted out, Bob.  :)

Here's a bit of 'back in the day' trivia :
Many months after buying my Beddie, in '78, GMH sent me a new Steering Uni, with a letter instructing me to take my van to the
Holden dealer to change the uni over. I guess there must have been some potentially dangerous ones fitted at the time.  :o
How about that? a CF Bedford recall. I have sometimes wondered if all the dodgy ones were replaced.
