Thanks Gunning. The current wheels are 8J rear and 7J front. My Galaxy rear axle is slightly narrower than a standard Bedford one so I am able to run the wider rims without having to fit flares. I'm hoping to get my dropped stub axles fitted in the next month or two and apart from lowering the van it also narrows the front track so I'm planning to squeeze in a set of 8Js on the front too.

Not a Bedford, but still worth a look. We spotted this 1968 Dodge van at today's gathering. Took a quick peek underneath and it looks like there is a V8 mounted just behind the front seats.

Hi Gordon, can you possibly help me with some information on the lowering stub axles for the older Mk 1 CF. Cost and availability in your currency. Would you bre prepared to get me a set and mail them to SA. I know that it will be expensive with our crappy exhange rate, but a big improvement for my CF. Possibly also price of all 4 balljoints. Cheers Nebs.

Hi Gordon,

Great stuff and looked like a good run. Would have been there if I had the van back on the road. Did you manage to get any of the owners details of that cool Dodge van? He might want to come along to the nationals next year.

Cheers,
Garry.

No such luck Garry. I hung around hoping he might return to the van at some stage, but it was still there when we left. Hopefully he will be back there next month and I'll give it another try.

Gordon, left when we did, took off from beside us at the lights, sounded nice, an 8 for sure.. middle aged couple in it...

It sure is a good looking van. Stock looking body and a nice set of wheels. I should have taken some pics of the inside as it was pretty stock too apart from some subtle period upgrades and a colourful Mexican blanket covering the engine cover.

A good turn out at today's Caffeine & Classics. In addition to the usual handful of grumpy old men in Camaros, there was an interesting collection of European vehicles. Spotted a number of VW buses as well as a neat looking Beetle Ute conversion. A few pics for those who are interested.

It was good to see a third Bedford at Caffeine & Classics today and a mint looking GMC delivery.

A few pics for those who are interested.

I did have to look twice at those white-walls-on-black-wheels= v. nice!
However, are they cross-ply tires?? scary
And what diameter are the wheels?
A.

Yep, cross-plys, 14 inch diameter but they've got some astronomic profile on them. He reckons it handles surprisingly well. Steering nice and light and reduced his fuel consumption by a wee bit too.

Rotti posted a link to oldschool.co.nz which featured that van a while back. It was in the music video clip.

Yeah Hobbit, Stu and I took our vans along to the old school burger night last Wednesday. They are a good bunch and we will probably hang out with them a lot more in future.

Caffeine & Classics out at Smales Farm on the North Shore next Sunday for any Aucklanders who are keen. Ray and his family are driving up from Hamilton for the day in Bluebird (sadly without his trailer). Bas and Stu are coming along too so we are all looking forward to catching up.

I might even be able to coax a few of the Transit boys in to coming along.
