Ok Buga's a new date is set for a Vanstastic weekend ..with or without you van!
I do wish to encourage those who can bring their beloved beddy along no matter what condition.
Its all about being there with other vanners than waiting until the vans in absolute perfect show condition...it could take years.
So why not get her road worthy and do the other things as you go along...many other vans are an ongoing work in progress too.
The organisers want to have more than 100 vans cruise around the track...would love to see at least 10 beddies there! ;D ;D
Hope to see you there!

Update on the nats
OK everyone, the initial response for the Bathurst Van Nationals has far exceeded any original expectations. By the end of this weekend we will have more than 130 van enthusiasts plus over 80 vans pre-entered - and we still have 300 days to go.
For those who are onboard as Club, Group or Forum Liaisons, its your time to shine. There is plenty of info on the Bathurst Van Nationals page and the official website to share around including the opportunity for some multi-club events. The 2nd National Drive-In Night will be a dress rehearsal for the 40th Van Nationals. The same quantity of vans spread over 15 venues will surpass 2007 as we now have FaceBook and smart phones - laptops on tailgates and 1mb Nokia pics are far behind us. We have put in place all the ingredients for a memorable Easter, "over 100 vans around Mt Panorama", our best 30 vans from the past and the present, indoors under full show conditions, a SOLD OUT Vanners Motel, two party pavilions, but most importantly, we are creating the opportunities for what can be achieved as individual groups.
The lead up promotion of vanning in Victoria via the 50th Vic Hot Rod Show, Bathurst will be the biggest gathering of Majestic Vanners, of Sundowners for the last thirty years, of Queensland vans and WA vans outside of their own state, we could even have five times as many Tasmanian vans than any other Van Nats.
For our overseas liaisons in the northern hemisphere, we appreciate your assistance in promoting our 40th celebration as well as Mandy P doing some PR on her upcoming trip to Northern America. As for NZ, we hope the international vanning spirit will see huge numbers cross the ditch for both 40th's in coming years.
Finally, for our previous winners and runner-ups. Sit back, relax and encourage old competitors to return - we will make the most of your talents and experience once you are in Bathurst.
Thanks for your time everyone, you have enabled fantasy to become reality. It will be a memorable event, but your influence within your own group will flow on to create an atmosphere not seen since the 1970's.
More info in July. — with Steve Abbott and 19 others.

Bathurst Van Nationals........ 229 days to go ;)
Progress continues.
115 vans and 214 people as of 15th August
Red tape is almost completed.
Upcoming stops include the 2nd National Drive-In Night, Majestic Van In, Red Baron into the front window of the Museum for the Bathurst 1000, Parkes Show n Shine and the Bathurst Expo
Sponsors continue to roll in, including an international parts supplier.
Website has been upgraded to cope with the heavy traffic and will be updated this week. Feel free to suggest any content. There will be an extension of the Who's Coming page to include first names of pre-entrants. As the event is for van enthusiasts, not just van owners, info on the Bathurst Bullet (Sydney to Bathurst train) will be added - less than $10 for a ticket.

URGENT UPDATE
News just in. The Parade Lap around Mt Panorama on Easter Saturday is now limited to 200 VANS due to the time restraints of the racing schedule of the Bathurst Motor Festival.
We are currently up to 160 Vans, so we only have 40 available places left. They will fill fast as the last forty entries were received after 11th August - only 9 weeks ago. Let your club / group members know of this latest development.
Another track cruise is now being considered as part of the lead up to the official start of the 40th Van Nationals. A comprehensive Entrant Advice will be sent out at the end of October

111 days to go

Theres is a November update on the website, for anyone going or interested in the programme.
Get in quick as there are 30 spots left for the 200 cutoff, for a few laps around the race track during the lunch break of the Bathurst Motor festival races around Mt Panorama.
I bet we make the news with that convoy ;D
below is the back window sticker they got made up and is for sale ..
the results of all the shenanigans happening in the back f the vans ::) ::)
-
opps forgot to mention our BUGA logo is the fifth from the left! ;)
-
How many Beddy's are going do you know Wendy? I'm on the fence about going to this one.... It looks like a great event but i wasn't overly fussed with the Mildura Nats.
Stew

Hi Stew
Bathurst's 40th Anniversary of the Australian Van nationals is going to leave Mildura for dead!
A lap around mount Panorama in a convoy of 200 + vans is nothing like Milduras gathering of 81 vans.
And there will be heaps more spectators as there is a Motor festival on that weekend and Bathurst is closer to larger populations. Not to mention all the publicitiy thats going into this event.
Anyway we need the beddy brothers at the nats mate ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) they will get some much attention for looking so kool! show them medium and small vanners how kool Bedfords are 8)
Last time i spoke with Pete Fres before xmas there were 12 large vans and 6 bedfords.
I would love to see heaps more bedfords roll up.
So.....we have .....
80 days to go
181 vans
70 people
-
ahhh that should read
80 days to go

Desperate times. This came in today
hi i want to enter my van if you can guarantee me a place in the 200 vans cruising the bathurst circuit.
is there still any spots avaliable as i understand the 'show' cars locked in the building are not part of the cruise?
cheers ****
The reply was -
The "show" vans do not want to miss out on "200 VANS Around Mt Panorama" as it is more important to them than just another car display. At the moment we have 212 vans pre-entered. Some are being rebuilt and may not be completed in time for Easter. Some entrants are bringing more than one van and may choose to only take one on the cruise. At this stage, we can not offer any guarantees for late entries.
____________________________________________
Tough, but fair.
If the 40th Van Nationals proves to be successful, it will be due to the high number of van enthusiasts who pre-entered early and supported what we are trying to achieve. Thank you so much for believing...
We would love to take ALL the vans around Mt Panorama on Saturdays official cruise, but we have been restricted to a 200 van and 20 minute timeframe by the organisers of the Bathurst Motor Festival. However, a second cruise for the early arrivals is not beyond the realm of possibilities.
Hope to see you there!
-
Agree entirely. There has to be some benefits of an early registration and access to an "exclusive & desirable event" to me is it. A relative did a variety bash run, and the highlight was a run around the track on the 1000 race weekend. As for my van... well I am not sure if my 300E Ford Thames @ 36 HP (when new) would make it up the hill anyway! ;D ;D ;D ;D And my Bedford is a traytop.

Finally back in Melbourne after a long drive yesterday - It was fantastic to meet other Buga's at the Nats and a big thanks for making me feel so welcome, you're a great bunch of guys and gals! It felt so good to get the 'Freedom Roller' on the road and aside from running out of petrol on the way up and giving her a quick tune up in the Mount Panorama Car Park (not many can say that) she went like dream!

It was great seeing all the Beddies and meeting the owners too
