well after heaps of research, phone calls, lock smiths, and emails with no success, then finally made a fluke discovery that landrover lock barrels are the same as bedfords. so got these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MTC6505-Land-Rover-Defender-Door-Barrel-Lock-Set-Rear-Side-fuel-cap-4-of-/370857116607?pt=AU_Men_Accessories&hash=item5658ce83bf (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MTC6505-Land-Rover-Defender-Door-Barrel-Lock-Set-Rear-Side-fuel-cap-4-of-/370857116607?pt=AU_Men_Accessories&hash=item5658ce83bf) and they fitted perfect and all barrels matched and came with 2 keys, so now have 7 spear keys.

What a win. Just ordered myself a set. Thanks for the heads up. :) :)
-
that's pretty cool :)
so I have one question, what if you have no keys that work your current barrels, is there a way to remove them without damaging everything ?
-
a skelleton key?
-
cool link vuuup, cheers mate
i just bought 2 sets .
for my poptop and cab chassis
-
most of the old barrels are badly worn and will except different keys patterns or even a screwdriver (my reason for changing them) and pretty easy to pick. the rear handle is a bit more tricky and i had to make up some parts to get rid the slack in handle and to reinforce the main body which had cracks from people forcing the handle.
yer thought there would be some beddys that need new lock... enjoy
-
Dumb question, vuuup. Ignition barrel as well?
cheers
Russell

most likely same barrel but i did not have an original switch in both of my beddys so don't know but they also sell 5 barrel sets
-
so whats the trick to getting the old barrels out ?
-
been a little while now but as far remember you take out the cir-clip and remove the lock arms, plate, and spring, then push the little button on the back of the barrel through the slot on the push arm to remove, then use the key to remove barrel from outer sleeve (i used an old worn down key that fit in the barrel but reckon can easily pick it now it disassembled or quick visit to lock smith).
for the rear handle there is a small pin that goes through the main body that holds it together and this one would be harder to pick, also when i reassembled it had to make a new square lock pin with the grove in it out of household door handle center rod which was a fraction wider to take up the slack. then for the square rod that goes to the inside handle, instead of the pin they used i used a small bolt that held the main body together and stopped stretching and cracks from people forcing the handle, but do not over tighten as it need to wiggle slightly from side to side and dont want more cracks from to much pressure, just use lock tight when at the right tension.
hope that makes sense and helps

Thanks, ill give that a try ;)

Turns out they are an easy change over.
A circlip holds the door lock n handle together ,
Then you will need a key to get the lock out,
(Just locate as many old keys as you can, borrow a few if nessasary)
To find 1 that fits.
Press the little button while removing the barrel
And presto.
Finee,:)
P.s. If you dont have a key entry on passanger side
You can just get a spare drivers side key push button and
Install it into the passange handle.
Easy as, im just in the process of doing this and installing central locking,
And putting electric windows in all 3 of my bedfords
-
handy pictures and info thanks! I've ordered a set of the ebay landrover locks so will be doing the same shortly!
-
Yeah i bought 2 sets,
I might buy 2 more sets n put them away,:)
-
Good thing about these locks is there are 4 locks per pack
So if you have 3 bedfords with only a drivers door and back door lock
You can have 1 key to fit both beddy,s lol,
:)
-
Thanx heaps vuuup
Awsome reaserch there, you did well
, i ended up buying another 2 sets
And put them away for a rainy day,:)
Cheers marty

The guy is wondering why there has been such a demand for the locks, price might go up when he finds out... ;)
I got a set, quick delivery to NZ, but as I have only 3 doors, I have a spare, so 1 set will do, as I am sure they will out last me...... :D
-
AWESWOME!!!! thanks Vuuup....your a champinion....lol......top work !

Did rear door lock in 20 mins,
I advise using circlip pliers to remove circlips
Not scribers, ( stabbed myself in the hand with scriber)
1/ remove circlip
2/ remove spring n washers
3/ remove little pin in main handle body
4/ put door opening cam on new lock.
5/ put back together and finneeto
Both front doors and rear door locks changed, 20 mins each,
Now to take ignition to locksmith n get it matched to door key.
Thats blueonblack (blue van done) will do nightingale (green n white poptop)
In next few days, :)

Good info!! Mine turned up in the mail today ;) hopefully get time to fit mine soon!!
I love that each barrel comes with a set of keys ... Shouldn't run out !!!!
-
:D 8 keys should see my life out, haha thats 4 sure
My vans have never had passanger locks before so im stoked
4 barrels in a pack so there,s 1 spare, i guess if 1,s gunna wear out itl
Be the drivers one, not in my lifetime though:)
-
Where'd you get these from? I'm chasing some door locks for my beddy eventually.
-
Oh yeah I see... Sorry for the silly question. Ordering a set now. Hahaha
-
