Title: which wheel cylinders?? and brakes help
Post by: vuuup on August 29, 2013, 10:23:59 AM
hi, been searching for the right part number front wheel cylinders for my van.

here is the protex catalog for brakes http://eziautoparts.com.au/pdf/HYD_A_H.pdf (http://eziautoparts.com.au/pdf/HYD_A_H.pdf)

i have a lwb 1978 cf with 10inch drums (254.3mm) and under bedford cf there is two year listing that cross over "1/70 - 12/81" and "8/77 - 12/81". there is a drum measurement which i guess is from the outer edge to the inner braking surface "22.22mm" and the other "23.81mm", i have measured mine and it is 23.3mm so if this is the right guess it may be the last listing? but i would like to be sure since there is a massive price jump from $74 to $138-$152.

also does anyone know if they come with the 2 for each side or is the price for each individual wheel cylinder and you have to buy all 4 for the front? the parts people are not much help!

and if anyone knows a good brand with good price?

and and what is the difference in contents between minor and major master cylinder kits?

hi bas, cheers for the part number. will they fit the front? and dont think you can get them in aus.

hi bob, wow $20 would be a lot better. have heard of mini one being used but do they work for the 10 inch 35cwt lwb model or only swb 9 inch drums? and do you know which model morris mini they off? cheers

I did a post on it before, might show up in a search, these are Mini as well,  not sue if the front is the same or not, but good chance Mini front might be, as the pkt does say Rear cylinder, are in  OZ as guys before knew of them there.

Got my mini wheel cylinders all fitted up . Ta for the info .
Half the cost to   :D

Had to use a file on the backing plate holes though ( they didn,t quite line up ) .
Now have to attack the rear brakes . Hopefully there mini cylinders to .
I,m still after a r/h  door lock assembly if anyone has one to sell .

Cheers, Postie Bob.

thanks for the help.

have being researching for a few days now and it looks like the mini ones will not fit the front 10inch drums on my 1978 lwb :-[ i had some swb front cylinders lying around so compered them, and there is quite a difference.
so looks like have to go with http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wheel-cylinder-assembly-4242-061.html (http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wheel-cylinder-assembly-4242-061.html) and http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wheel-cylinder-assembly-4242-062.html (http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wheel-cylinder-assembly-4242-062.html) but if i am lucky http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wheel-cylinder-assembly-4241-785.html (http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wheel-cylinder-assembly-4241-785.html) and http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wheel-cylinder-assembly-4241-784.html (http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/wheel-cylinder-assembly-4241-784.html) may fit.

here is some photos of the swb and lwb cylinders, as can see over all length and bolt hole dont match and one of the ports is at 90 degrees instead of 45. i will post my finding once complete in case anyone else is having same problems.

and if anyone has worked out a more budget way please let me know.

If you have the originals, take them and get them sleeved and you will only ever have to put in a kit again. The sleeve's are stainless. $78.60 inc GST completely reconditioned. That's each.
