Or if you're after a fixed temp switch you could grab a thermal switch from an electronics store and attach it to a relay:

Ok Thanks, will check these out, I know of the Davis Craig, but the one I know off fits into the Radiator hose, and causes problems leaking from people I know that have used it.

Yeah the one you're thinking of is the mechanical thermo switch. Agreed -> they are crap!

yuo mean the one what fits down the inside of the return hose rad inlet, shane??? yep!! got one if anyone wants it???? (went back to mechanical fan) it has thermal adjustable setting from within the cab,  just pay postage she be "all yours"" (never actually leaked, but fans fractured cores after a time ) very cheap effendi..  ;)

I've used the capilliary type (in the hose) on street cars and race cars, never had any trouble. Got to use the little wedge they come with for best results but hi temp silastic will work OK too.

The best thing about them is the it is adjustable and you can get it running at the right temperature for best performance.

Ok, thanks Shane, went with the 0402 model from Davies Craig, but not available in NZ that I could find, only the other model.
