OK pictures of Trimatic with overdrive witch is a ford unit. It says Laycock engineering Ltd, Shepfield England, J Type noramville system. This is the overdrive unit, no markings on the box as to what it is but when I had it rebuild they said it was Trimatic and replaced a couple of bands with Trimatic bands. If I take the overdive unit off the tailshaft on the standard Trimatic bolts straight on so it is the same patten, BELLHOUSING IS 202 PATTEN, as you can see from photos every thing is the same as trimatic but the shifter comes out the left side, picture of the kit needed to convert to right hand side. Dive shaft from bearing back is standard but front shaft is shorter due to over drive. Box has markings B 1029444 ATP.
Does anyone know any more about these.
Have one behind my worked 202 with a 3.8 diff, real power down low to 80k's flick on overdrive rev's drop and good to 160k's

don't know what the box is, looks like a trimatic but the overdrive is certainly interesting, the pic of the linkage is handy as I have to adapt my trimatic from passsenger side to driver side would that linkage be available or has it been made to suit the purpose?

I think that it must be an aftermarket conversion. I just asked a local auto expert and he had not heard of it.
It probably is a NZ special.

All trimatic cases can have the slector shaft swapped from one side to the other.

Sorry no idea on this one, although I do have a similar linkage which I thought was bedford

Ok Eddy will up load better pictures of the linkage, came on the Bedford van that had this set up with the overdrive, you can make this yourself no proplem will list size of brackts etc so you can do a straight copy.
Black Bedford you are right about trimatic change over, but my local (Holden) auto shop says it is not that straight foward and that the linkage is by far the better way to go.
Ok more info, Auto was brought into N.Z by Tappaden Motors in 82 -85 ( sorry not sure if Tappaden is spelt right but close sounds as it is written. They were Holden Dealers in the 80's
They did the conversions on the Ambo's back then.
Now need someone who worked form them.
