Does anyone out there know how many long wheel base 4x4 cf Bedfords still exist in Wa,even Australia?
-
at a guess, very few.
Most 4wd bedfords I have heard of are SWBs.
The question to be asking is, does anyopne know roughly how many bedfords were converted to 4wd over the years, then we can work thru a process of elimination as people can help strike the wrecked ones from the records..
Even this number will be minimal, much like the knowledge of such things will never be 100% accurate.
Some of our Original 1970's vanners may well have some knowledge to share here

Thanks Matte, there is someone out there. :).I know of only one now in Perth WA,love to be corrected
I have a big beast 4x4 long wheel base van 'with a mid mounted 350 chev,turbo350 auto trans, F250 and blazer diffs. It carries 270 l of LPG and 80l of water and NOW JUST STARTING carrying a YELLOW STICKER,courtesy a over enthusiastic copper and faulty reverse light.
I have had it 20 years, done at rip around Aussie in it and is is awesome go anywhere camper.
I was told it was built in NZ and imported to WA. I love to get more details as I haven't got the compliance plates for all the awesome mods and love Chester and need to get it over the pits.
It is in great mechanical condition and probably cost me around 30 000 dollars over the years.Anyone know who built this van(1975 Bedford) or can anyone give my some contacts with regards to compliance

Hey Chester,
Sounds like it'd be quite a nice van! If it's only cost you 30K over 20 years, you're doing pretty well.. I'd hate to add up all the bills and work out how much I've spent over the last 12 years.
I'd love to see some pics of the van, tho more accurately I'd love to see the van in person.
Where abouts in WA are you?
Dano is currently building up his hotrod van with a 4wd driveline, it would be very interesting to see the differences and similarities between the two setups

There was a white 4x4 getting around I saw it last at the Rockingham highschool I think there are some pic's of it in the gallery at a car show
-
Have added some pics of Chester and yes it has lived in Rockinghamwa, but is being cared for in the hills while it recovers from its yellow sticker.Has anyone got ideas on the best compliance engineers to get the beautiful beast back on the road. :'(

Hey Chester, I will give you an engineers phone number but it might be best to take straight to pits and just see what list they give you, might not even pick up on it being a unique vehicle, If your in the hills I'd recomend Kalamunda as I have gotten away with soo much in the past, trick is to rock up late Fri arvo,
I have recently spoke to the ginger beer, he advised fill out vehicle mod form from dept trans web site, as much detail as poss, send it in wait for letter of reply, they will then request a engineer to review the vehicle, approve and then yo know your good to go(yes I know a huge effort) but like i said I'd try the pits first, leave the horn and very easy things to fix off, (make their job easy) and see what you can get away with
engineers phone # 0419 932 022 Dan Pitic .... Hillarys good luck my # 0448 993 742 Dano, keep us informed bud. GOOD LUCK!
