Hi all,
I have ordered a new pair of rubbers from the UK for the brake and clutch pedals for my CF. I am told I will need them for a roadworthy.
However, I cannot find any reference to an accelerator pedal rubber.
Does anyone know, did the van originally have an accelerator pedal rubber?
If it did, presuming OEM cannnot be found, which other vehicle's pedal rubbers will fit?
Cheers, rubber

Just had a look at mine, dosen't have one, don't think it ever has, but that is not to say they don't, sorry guess this is of no help.
-
Anyone have a picture of the correct accelerator pedal rubber for refernce?
likewise, i've bought a brake pedal rubber from the uk but can't find a repro accelerator one.

I would say that you would not need one as if your foot slips off it would not be a safety issue or an emergency situation

I agree. Mine did not have a rubber on the accel. pedal.
If they want to give you a hard time you can always glue some sandpaper onto it for a non slip surface. Or hit it with a grinder. Or rivet a bit of chequerplate to it so it is a non slip surface. Can also buy some universal pedal pads from Supercheap or Repco and use them.

Yes I think I may do this. I have to convince them to let me try a few on for size. Was hoping someone had already been through this.
No matter, I'll give it a go, and report back. Thanks for your replies.

They weren't fitted with a rubber on the accelerator pedal, when my CF was new.
I glued some rubber on there after a cop hassled me about it once, but it was dangerous, so I
removed it immediately. Never had any rego. problems with this either.

Wow! You had one since new?? How great that must have been.
What made you get a beddy back then?
-
You would have to be very old now to have got one new. ;D well a Mk 1 anyway

A Bedford SWB was the ONLY vehicle I ever wanted to own. Purchased when I was 21 years old, I'm now 56. Yes, I'm one of the (very rare) original owners.

Respect!
My dad was the first owner of mine. He bought his from the university he worked at when they finished with the fleet after a few years of use in the early 80s. There were tilt seats on the interior walls like a troopy. No seatbelts. He used to take prospective student-teachers to the snow fields on team building excursions.
Then we did family trips up and down the east coast. Great memories.
I even remember the original hubcaps. Gone now.

Cheers Rubber, "Sentimental Attachment" is what I call it. They can be a big part of our lives.
PS: I still have my hubcaps. ;D

RESPECT
It was a joke, never understand the aussie people

Hi Vandee, I think the use of 'respect' here is just a bit of american gangsterism (?). It has crept in to the vernacular with all the US presidential pride in the media lately.
All I meant was I am in awe of Hobbit's commitment to the Bedford van, having owned it since birth, and still going strong. With the hubcaps as well!
I wasn't saying (as I suspect may have been the interpretation) that some respect was required, or anything like that. It was just a statement of admiration to Hobbit.
: )

OK my english is not that great, easy to misunderstand
-
How `bout super-gluing a thong to the pedal ;D .
-
Any particular brand?
; )
-
Any brand,ll do .
Just make sure it,s a loose fit ( for emergency braking ) ;D .
On a serious note..... I,m still on the hunt for a good master cylinder .
I,d love to have the `ol girl up`n`runnin by Easter and the cylinder is all that,s holding me back.
-
Hey Postie take your old one in to a brake place & have it rebuilt with a SS sleve Had mine done works fine
-
I looked into that but one of the lugs where it bolts onto the booster is broken off. They wanted $400 just to resleeve it . ''ouch'' .
I,m on the`aged` pension so only got limited funds to sink into my baby .
I,ve always been a `doitmyself `sort of bloke so will keep on scroungin . If the original replacement is a no-go I,ll look into a suitable swap.
Have read up some on the Holden/Ford cylinders/boosters but need to know how hard/easy it is for the changeover. For instance... what about the setup for the pedal to booster rod ? Can a disc/drum cylinder be used ? Are the threads on the cylinders and pipes compatable ? It would make life easier if I could see the system in the flesh but I,m a bit out of the way in Pt Pirie . Fact is I,ve only seen one Beddy getting around here .

Hi Postie Bob,
There are a couple of CF's @ u-pull-it at their Lonsdale yard. Last time I was there, 1 at least, still had it's master cylinder in place. Unsure of the condition, but with club rego only $171 for a 6 cylinder (driving 90 days) I would keep ORIGINAL and keep the drum brakes/original master cylinder. The saving in rego alone is worth it even paying the $400 to resleeve.
