sorry warren i forgot that part. and yes ben you are correct, its in newcastle.
-
unfortunately im gonna have to send this old girl to the car crusher and scrap it, i needed it gone and cant sell it so she is gonna have to go to bedford heaven.
-
why don't you put it on ebay, there's been some wrecks worse than this one getting sold...
-
Save her Chris :'( :'( put her on the back of your bedford truck ya got ;D
-
its been on ebay twice and no luck. So i have given up with it. Dont have the room no more so its goin to scrap next week if i cant find a home for her
-
figure out how much you'd get for scrap and advertise it for that amount, better to have it go to someone who could potentially revive it.
if you were in perth i'd happily take it off your hands
-
i can get $1500 for scrap. i would rather see it go to someone who might be able to do something with her. but i need it gone within 2 weeks max or its gonna go to scrap as i need the room badly
-
well looks like i have found a home for her. have been told she is getting picked up on thursday morning. glad she is gonna goto a good home.

Well it is home.
I left this morning at 1:30am and got back at 5:00pm. it was a long day!
The $1800 gumtree Range Rover ran very nicely. The 3.5l V8 worked very hard hauling 5 ton over 400kms and up at least 40 hills, some quite steep.
When I got my car trailer built years ago, I wanted a CFL van to fit on and the door to be able to open. I also specified drop axles to keep the centre of gravity low. It has hauled many CFL vans and trucks over the years. This is the first van that would not fit on. The rear wheels have wider tyres and a spacer plate between the rims so that the tyres don't rub. The wider tyres and spacer plate were enough for it not to fit on. We had to take one rim off.
I will paste some pics of the running gear; Windsor 351 V8, FMX auto plus overdrive, aircon, power steer etc.
Regards

;D Thats the way Chris . Another one saved ;D ;D ;D

Hey Chris thats funny a $1,800 Landrover saves a $ 1,500 Bedford worth in scrap metal alone.
I think its time to not refer Bedford cf vans to scrap metal. I hope im not alone in this line of thinking.
Is it really worth that much in scrap metal, please inform me if its true.
Good on you for your Beddy saving, i highly commend the effort.

A few clarifications...
All cars will be scrap metal, some just take a bit longer to get there.
My $1800 gumtree Range Rover is a $5000 Range Rover that was sold cheap because of a bad oil leak. The oil leak had been diagnosed by the service mechanic as a failing rear seal when it was actually a blocked flametrap caused by poor servicing.
For anyone playing with Rover V8s:

The actual scrap value of the van is only a couple of hundred dollars. The value in this van is in its parted out value. The motor, gearbox, and other bits are easily saleable and the rest then has scrap value. But then another van is gone.
The problem is space and if you do not have it then something has to go. I saw the new van that needs the shed space and I can understand the pressure to clear the shed out.
The van is restore-able but with the modification approvals mess in NSW, it wont happen here.
I have found a tilt tray that runs weekly between Brisbane and Melbourne. He is always full heading north (sorry George) but is sometimes empty heading south.
I have a few vans (and cab/chassis), including this one, that I would like to move on, so if there is any interest from someone in Vic get in touch with me and I will get a quote. I will sell the van at my cost to someone who will do something with it. With all the bits that are in it, it is a bargain.
Stay tuned for photos!!!

Hey Chris thanks for the clarification on scrap metal situation.
I wish i had your skills to fix up all sorts of stuff.
I often wanted to buy a cheap Beddy as a parts donor but as you say space is a commodity, especially as live in a flat with 1 car park.
Cheers Frank

My skills are basic, I am a "Jack-of-all-trades". What I do have is lots of mates who know what they are doing. And the fact that I am old so I have been around for while and haven't gone senile yet.

The Doomsday bitchslaped the DS to hell forcing them to make a new one.
