G'day
I am looking for a good TK truck for a project. It should have a V8 or a diesel motor and at least 12' wheelbase.
I have a D series Ford tilt tray truck. The tray and winch are great but the rest is very ordinary.
D series and TK have the same chassis width so the tray should fit.

The TK Tilt Tray arrived home today.
I got it out of the transport yard this morning, put my Suzuki Carry van on the back and drove it home up the Newell Highway.
It was a bit hard to start but once I got it going with a mouthful of petrol into the carby it was fine.
One of my neighbours was heading into town and saw my van on the back so he turned around and followed me home. He gave it a big thumbs up.
It has a reco'ed 308V8 4 speed gearbox and a 2 speed joey box. It has a new radiator, brakes done, and has been rewired. Overall it is in good condition.

I spent the day tidying up my new V8 auto Range Rover Highliner that I bought just for fun.
I love the real woodgrain.
I ran out of daylight before I got the new stereo in.
And I will post some pics of it as well.

I have a fair few. I have got rid of over 40 and still have over 80 vehicles. It looks like a scene from pomie land with all the CFs, Transits, D series trucks, TK trucks, Jag, and Rovers, I do have a bit of Jap stuff as well.

I sold an old VS commodore for $100 with IRS and new sports suspension. The bloke wanted to strip it and take the good stuff and I said OK as I would fill it with dead bits, including Bens leftovers. I was going to move it with the tilt tray but I had a load of roller doors on the D series truck so I drove over to the back of the yard to unload them and sank to the doors. I tried to drag it out with the winch but couldn't get a clear run. I tried to drag it out with the TK and managed to bog the back wheels on it even though I thought I was on solid ground. I tried to pull the TK out with the Range rover and managed to bog it as well even though it was on was on more solid ground. I pulled the Range Rover out with a hand winch and got a pile of sleepers and used the tilt tray to lift the rear wheels out of the mud. I put some sleepers under the wheels and drove it out. It was 9pm and the D series is still door deep in mud. I will have to wait a few days for the ground to dry out and I will have another go with the winch. Sometimes I still don't have enough toys. I am covered in mud, I am hungry and tied and I don't have any photos.

I'm slow, Just noticed that you had Mark's tow truck. That thing brought my camper home from behind Murwillumbah years ago. The rear wheels were just on the back of the tray and we passed the RTA inspectors as we came into town. Veery lucky....
How'd you end up with that?

I have been researching the history of the truck and the V8 was in it in the mid '80s when it was for sale in a Dubbo truck yard. They had bought it from a finance company after it had been repossessed. The truck yard has closed and the records are gone. The mechanic that was at the yard at the time remembers that little D with the V8 with affection.
It was sold to a business in Coonabarabran and then to a towing company in Lismore. A mate saw it for sale in a yard at Glenn Innes about 3 years ago. It was for sale in Brisbane on ebay when I bought it. I drove my work van to Brisbane, put it on the back and drove 800kms home. It handled the hills easily and certainly turned heads with its deep V8 rumbly exhaust.
I think I have found another D series truck for spares so I should have it registered again soon.

I think it was mainly a one driver truck while owned by Alpine. Mark was the owner and I think it was his truck. He worked it but he was good to his machinery. Good thing to have. well done.

I loved the v8 sound
I really missed it when it went to Victoria at one stage then came back I remember running up the street to it because I was so shocked to see it back in lismore
Then it was sold again then I believe you brought it
I often think about it and wonder how it's going
Hopefully not to sad with metal cancer it kills everything
I remember going for a ride in 1 d series mark had without seatbelts
And the one you got the door came open going around a roundabout
Im just lucky it wasn't in the one without seat belts as I could of fell out
Id Love to hear if you still have it and if you still got her on the road
