As most of you know I mentioned my vans will be up for sale soon.
To date I've had zero interest in the custom van but truck loads in the standard van.
Ideally I'd like to keep both or maybe sell custom but keep standard as tidy windowless vans are getting hard to find.
Anyway, here is the problem, I've been asked by many people how much for the white (standard) CF, I haven't given anyone a dollar figure as, to be honest have no idea what it's worth. The problem is all these people are interested in it, including a couple from here so who do I sell it to and for how much?
Wife-to-be reckons stick it on trade me and let everyone fight for it, but I know one of the guys who is keen (isn't on here) wants to make it into a camper with pop top. I know once it's sold I can't do anything about what happens to it but I'd like to see it be enjoyed as a van van.
some stats of the van:
1971 (so gets the cheap rego - $111 a year)
V6 3.8 commodore running gear including all wiring, dash, steering column, petrol tank, diff centre (now 3.45:1 instead of 3.08:1), has central locking and cruise control which I haven't hooked up yet.
has newish tyres front and back, running 14x7 front and 14x8 rear with HQ stud pattern all round. Hq discs up front, bedford drums on rear. ALl new balljoints etc when rebuilt so flys through WOF's, all cert'd
Had a full rebuild (some stats of that on my custom van website) a few years ago but has a couple of spots of rust coming back (tiny spots), one on side gutter, top of grill and r/f wheel arch.
It's not mint (like it once was), it sadly sits out doors, but is still tidy
It goes well, and tows well, it doesn't get used as much as it should.
Apart from keeping it, Any ideas, like price or anything

$7.000 ??? $7500.00

Personally I'd take the custom van, it's an awesome machine.
Over here a tidy van like the white one would bring $4000 - $8000 depending on rust/mechanical issues. If everything is hooked up & working, rubbers/brakes etc all renewed, rust is minimal.. hard to say without a good look at it.
And you're right, once you've sold it to the highest bidder, there's not much you can do. Just make sure you sell it to someone who lives far away, so you don't have to see it driving around town with dragons painted on the side, or similar!

$5000 reserve on trade me .... theres a tidy white one with windows at under $1500 atm
tell the guy to pop top that one ???
keep them both or you will regret it later
just hold off on the custom for a while and start using the standard more

You can't sell it to someone who wants to put a pop top on it. As a camper he'll want to put windows in it as well and that would all just be a waste of a nice windowless van.
I'm real keen to take it off your hands for a little as I can get it for but at a price that you're happy with. :) I would put an interior in it but would leave the body stock, no windows, no flares, spoilers etc, just as it is. I have a custom already so feel the need for a stock CF, (body wise at least), and yours is too good to change.
However to be fair, whoever buy's it for X dollars, someone else will come along and say I would have offered you Y dollars for it. Therefore, unfortunately I agree with the boss, the fairest way would be to put it on trademe and let the market find the value for it. Set the reserve at what you are happy to accept and let it run. (deep down I still think you should keep it)
Re the trailer; I have hummed and harred over this for the last couple of weeks and although I would love to build it, at this stage I doubt that I would have time to get into a project like that for a good year or two. During that time it would just deriorate to a stage where it would probably be too much of a mission to pull it back. Therefore I'll have to pass on that body at this stage. :( :(
Cheers,
Garry.

Its pretty sad that you have to sell the vans Busy, you certainly put in a lot of work into them both. All the best, i reckon the white one on trademe would fetch over $6500. Its tidy as.

Thanks guys
No worries about the trailer Garry, I'll probably end up cutting the panels out and try store them somewhere. Keep them under the bed or something lol
The crazy thing about all this is about a year ago someone was real keen on the van, I didn't want to sell it but remember thinking at the time it's probably only worth 3000
Maybe I should take a gamble and stick it on trademe for a $1 reserve, nah, not really a gambling man.
Maybe I could swap it for a transhit, I'm crazy, not stupid lol
Also got a '06 GSX 600 Katana Black 26 thou on the clock, with alarm and sports exhaust for sale

Still say around the $7000.00 mark.
Van striped to bare metal / rust removed / 38 v6 - Auto - diff etc.
Standard van this tidy with the mags on would go for $5.000, with maybe a 202 in it.
To fit a v6, if you can't do it youself would be more than $2000.00, there's your 7 thousand, and that's not all the time the vans off the road etc, makes sence to buy one already done, I have seen this van, it's tidy, and what little rust may be there, would only be small, any other van you buy you would take a chance on whats under the paint.........
