Have a look at the attached pic.
What is the unit that is mounted to the left of the instrument panel? Is it the controls for the heater/fan? My van is missing this. Is it meant to be a standard part on the CFL?
Can someone please snap a pic of their fuse box cover and post it up here?
Cheers
Jock

yep heater controls and fuse box cover
-
Has anyone got a spare heater control unit and fuse box cover?

Jock
The heater control in the top picture is the later model ones.
The earlier version is like this

Depends on how you have your dash set up

Mine is a 1978 model. My dash looks more like the one you posted Warren but still not exactly the same. I have a small recess are like that with a hole in the middle of it approx. the size of a 20 cent piece. There is no 'BEDFORD by VAUXHALL' badge.
I will take a pic on the weekend.
-
mine is also a 78 with a later heater box, you will still have the "steel" pressed as for the earlier models in the centre of the dash but should have 4 mounting bolt holes for the later ones, to the left of the dash pod note how the ealier were recessed and the later "pod"mounted.
-
i hate the pod it looks rediculous:) i think i have one somewhere jock.
-
Yeah it doesn't look very good does it but I need some for of heater on/off switch that is within hands reach. May have to custom something up, at present to turn the heater on or off you have to pop the bonnet and turn the tap to open the valve in the heater hose, not ideal!
:D :D :D

Still keen on a photo of the FUSE box cover if anyone has one, Not sure what fuses go where and there's a few that are missing and a couple blown, would be good to know what size fuse and where they go!
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

according to the haynes 'bible' it goes from left to right and any above and below each other like 1 &2 or 5 & 6 are one fuse
so fuses in order are
1 horn headlight flasher, interior light
2 hazard warning lights
3 spare
4 spare
5 water temp gauge, fuel gauge, oil warning light, heater motor
6 windscreen wiper and washer, turn signals
7 stoplights
8 LHS tail and number plate lights
9 RHS tail and number plate and instrument lights
10 LHS low beam
11 RHS low beam
12 LHS high beam
13 RHS high beam
-
i think i might have 1 of those covers in a box of parts.

Thanks for posting that up Hotrod.
Now my next question is.......
What size fuses for each of the above numbers?
-
35 amp
-
35 amp
So they are all the same 35 amp fuse for each different slot?
From what I can tell at the moment there are at least 3 different Fuse sizes in there!
Please confirm.

book says "fuses 35 amp"
-
book says "fuses 35 amp"
Can anyone else confirm this?
Seems strange that they would all be 35...
Cheers
Jock
-
yep,
the haynes workshop manuel, says 35 amp for all .
seems weird i know.
but its there in black n white
page 148
-
Is that what you have in your van Marty? 35 Amp fuses all the way across?
Cheers
Jock
-
pretty much,
i just put anything ive got over 20 amp in any hole, lol
even before i knew they were 35amp.
lets face it headlights would need 35 amp no worries.
and there,s not much on the fuse list that would blow before the fuse?
remember the bedford van was made of real steel and real wireing.
not like all the jap n asian crap on the roads today/

I will happily do as the manual states, 35amp all round!
-
Well I replaced all of the fuses with 35amp and it's working a treat! I have lights that I never had before? (the one that lights up the speedo).
Thanks for your help with the fuses.
