Title: Radiator Height
Post by: Bas / NZ on April 19, 2012, 04:15:04 PM
For the experts out there, V6 3.8 Holden can the radiator sit to high in  relation to the motor, the reason why is that my water level keeps droping down a couple of inches, and my Radiator sits higher that it would in the car in relation to the motor hight, is this a proplem or not....... ???

not really as the water pump pushes the water around and when it goes back into the engine its done by suction. same as the heater being able to be so high - gravity

if your using the overflow bottle (you should), fill it up, go for a drive, let the thermostat open and the bottle should be around the high mark, if the bottle is empty it may be siphoning out of the bottle over flow

With the top of the radiator higher than the motor is a good thing, no air locks in the motor this way.
The radiator will throw some out to allow to breath and circulate, even out of an over flow bottle.
Being a Commodore motor, give it a rev and see the exhaust gets moist or wet
