Post by: vanner065 on December 12, 2011, 09:44:33 PM

That would be my guess also, F100 or Landcruiser 100 series. The other option would be Nissan GQs, a guy i know at yatala uses the nissan chasiss for his replica Hummers, and they are as wide as a beddy if not a bit more. A genuine H1 Hummer is only a 100mm wider then a cruiser 100 series.

Finally the beddys ready for the conversion it goes into the shop next week. The engine is now a vz 5.7 gearbox 4l80e which has been manullized and still gu patrol transfer & running gear. I"ve given it a fresh coat of paint & a gu bullbar & new seats. Will probably take a while but i"ll post pictures as it progresses . Can"t wait this has take me a long time to sort out.

Awesome Garry, that bull bar changes the stance instantly. Mate can i suggest LOTS of detailed pics, and maybe a build sheet to show others how to build one. I can tell you we are 4x4 beddy mad here, so i suspect there will be a few 4x4s popping up in the future.

Hi Wendy, i think it is off a Nissan GU Patrol 4X4. It looks great hey, just gives it a more beefy stance. Love it.

Well it's been a while but the 4x4 conversion is taking shape. The 5.7 engine & 4l80 auto are in and the front end is just about hooked up. All the major chassis work is done just the mounts to be done.

They are not as strong as the ford 9" but pretty close. Just remember they are a fair bit narrower than the standard bedford diff to.

Awesome Garry, have started on mine also.... started stripping the 4x4 to pull the running gear out  , just can't seem to get to it to it.(time)Been too busy doing odd jobs for others at the mo....Also got a special built 4l80e from Brunswick Diesel's, that came last fort night, also can't get to it to un wrap it..... won't be able to touch it now for another three weeks, BUGA, now waiting for an adaptor for the tran to g/box from Mark,s adaptors.......boo hoo ... sooo jelous of the LS1.... you got me thinking, but put tooo much into my chev so that's gunna stay, especially with billet front end (alternators etc A/C)

keep the photo's coming great to see another bossy 4x4  Beddie mate .....awesome!!!!

Is good to see someone going up instead of down for a change.

Will the new wheels fit in the archs or do you have to enlarge them a bit?
Title: Re: 4x4 bedi
Post by: Dano on March 16, 2014, 01:36:25 PM
Busy, I think if anything that will be pretty much be it, I too am trying to bring myself to cut all the new rear quarters off to fit a decent tyre, (33") Garry did you go with the 33" ? 31.5 are pretty much the limit for std wheel arch unless you get mega height, thus making it a bit (more) top heavy.... glad Garry did do this as makes me feel a little bit more comforting .......love the bar work work bud, looking awesome.....

GU trans case?
any photo's of your engine bay?

Post by: GARRY on March 16, 2014, 06:05:36 PM
Hey DANO how's yours goin. Yea 33's it sit's good on these we tried 35 but looks to much, The front and rear bars ,transfer case & axles are all gu patrol. The rear guards have to be trimmed both sides and the front axle was moved forward so just a bit more off the front. The springs have to be sorted out to sit level i don"t what it to sit up to much. The engine was moved a bit to the left it was wider than we thought but it sits pretty good now. I could have bought a new 4x4 for what this has cost but i"ll have a LS1 5.7 V8 4X4 BOMB PROOF BEDDI very soon.

Well it"s finally home have stripped the old clear coat off, put some heavier coils on the front, now it sits level. Next it"s off to panel shop to get the floor & engine cover made & guards trimmed, new clear coat, the wheel alinement shop to get it squared up, the the brakes & full new wiring harness so hope this all goes quickly. CAN"T WAIT .

Just a quick update the floor & engine cover are done, 285x75 16 baja mtz are on, next it off to the panel shop to get the guards chopped & the paint fixed. Still to do brakes , radiator, wiring,i work away so time to work on the 4x4 is hard to do but it's slowly getting there hope to have this on the road by the end of the year.

Hey Garry, cant wait to see it finished, this is going to be an awesome ride. I have a suggestion, if you hav'nt already thought about it, this is going to be a mean looking machine, so have you thought about a set of west coast truck mirrors, that would set it off nicely. Are you keeping the tail lights, i kind of like them, they sort of fit the 4x4 look.

cheers garry for the tow bar and letting us see the van, was an awesome day except got a flat on the beach driving home and had to change it in the rain... also had some fun out running the waves at the point :)

here is a photo of someone who has gone even more nuts on the 4x4, pity its not a beddy.
