Well what a day, took a trip in the Bedie down to the local petrol station to full her up, when finished pulled over to the side as I forgot to buy something while there, came back out and the key wouldn't turn on, steering on lock (sh ...t) got the tools out took the lock off, found some wire in the van and proceeded to hot wire it, guess what a cop came walking by and wanted to know what I was doing :D I told him, but he still got on his dispatch unit and checked out the ownership and my ID, all was ok but before he left he said please don't take this up as a part time job.......... ;D (may be a good idea for some extra cash) ;D anyway for got about the elec fuel pump so took a while to work it out, but all good now have set up a switch under the dash that starts the pump and then a push buttom to kick it over, works great untill I get another unit...........

I found this interesting article that referenced a 55HP Bedford Campervan doing a lap around

Went to a place to day up near Avoca, not realy a wrecking yard, than a farm of cars. Cars from the 40's to the 90's. And yes there were some Bedfords. One that stood out to me was a short wheel base windowless that had what looked like origanal paint and other than rust in the back doors and some surface rust was the ideal starting point for a project. Another one with a GTS dash. I went with a freind so we could get some bits for a HR van. I came out with a complete and running Escort windowless van, I don't know why? I'm sitting here now thinking of the Beddy's. Anyway he has what you may need, and he was telling me of a disc brake conversion for the comercial stud patern LWB, that retains the origanal wheels, the disc's are from a transit (yes the old ugly ones). He said the stud patern is the same, is this true??
-
he was telling me of a disc brake conversion for the commercial stud pattern LWB, that retains the original wheels, the disc's are from a transit (yes the old ugly ones). He said the stud pattern is the same, is this true??
G'day
Does he have a converted LWB front end? Does he want to sell it? I have been trying to find out about the conversion for a fair while. I have even gone as far as buying a couple of Transits to see if I can get suitable discs but each one has had the wrong offset putting the wheel too far in or out. The stud pattern is the same and the Transit rims are much better because the have a safety lip which stops the tyre rolling off the rim when flat.
-
He has a couple of transits there, he said there were 3 differant bearings sizes but nothing about the offset. he said with the right bearing, they bolt on to your stub axle, you put the right on the left and left on the right due to the fact of the rack being on the wrong side of the crossmember. I got his number, if needed

That would mean that the brakes will be working in reverse mode.
Is there any reason that would cause a problem?
I can't think of one, unless maybe the cylinders are are cast at a slight angle for some reason.

It doesn't matter which way your calipers are mounted as the piston movement is 90 degrees to the disk. The brakes have to be able to work when you are going in reverse (which can be very fast).

Don't worry about it George. It would have just been a bot randomly posting shit. One of the moderators would have cleared it. It happens all the time but the mods get most of them before anyone sees them.

Thats what i do a fair bit Rogue ,,,Im usually on the site every morning at around 6.30am so can snuff them out pretty quick. Some of them arrive during the day as well ... ;D ;D

looking good Dano, keep up the posts
-
hey looks cool dano! what running gear with this one run?
-
Dano, take excessive measurements and draw up some sketches while its all out..
That 4L80 looks tiny compared to my T400, tho that's likely due to the extension housing on my box, but still i'd have expected it to look larger than it does. Nice to see its all arrived tho!
It's good to see you're motivated to keep this going
-
Can't wait to see your 4x4 going together dano.
Here is a Q for shane J, or anyone with knowledge of. Shane J posted these picks of an awesome beddy, so my Q is this, is the 5th wheel just there for show, or is it certified to tow. I ask because it looks like a big rig 5th, very different from what you see here in oz for towing, are there any pics of how it is mounted.
George.

hotrod ... looking good ... why the white in the ceiling panel ? a mirror or recessed light would look good
-
Well today myself and Clint (petrolhead) went along to the Nostalgia drags held at the Motorplex in kwinana and took in alot of beautiful muscle car eye candy. Even though there wern't a huge number of cars there, the ones that did turn up were of an extremely high standard.Plenty of american muscle, R/T dodge chargers ,Camaros,Corvettes,Chevelles, Mustangs,+ aussie metal Monaros ,Toranas,Valiant chargers and pacers, and some ford GTs. And a good turnout from the hotrod fraternity. Clint was snapping pics left right and centre and might throw some up for you on here soon. ;D
-
done, just electrics, tailshafts, exhausts engine cover to do.......
-
Don't forget the windows too Dano or it might get a bit breezy.
-
stage 1.5 done. rear wall and ceiling over bed area finished
-
When you coming over to do mine hotrod? :)
I actually did some work on my custom van last couple of days (and it felt awesome), been making the water channels that go through the front guards as well as welding in the windscreen frame.
Hopefully the weather lets me do some more tomorrow

Tail lights look fantasic, were they just a straight bolt up? Keep up the good work!
-
Hi Mezzemo
Some cutting but not much. Just cut the corners and bent back the metal a bit. Then drilled some holes so it could be fasten to the van. I actually got these from aussy. Ben was kind enough to post it with some flares that i got off him. They look so much more beefier( if that's a word) that the standard lights. Dont really like the LED type lights. Looks a bit to modern. It comes with the indicator wired. All you need to do, is use the double bulb for the park and brake lights which fit in the ZB holder without any issues.
-
i have been doing.......................................................... f***all!!

Spent most of today under-the-neath!
Passenger side, lower ball joint f*cked out on me the other day (yes while driving). Luckily, I had just come off the freeway and not going that fast. Freaking scary tho, i'll tell ya that. Lads in car in front, pulled back to check on me, as they were just admiring the Van and then all of a sudden, they saw sparks coming from the front end.
Happened Saturday, yesterday pulled her apart and today grabbed a new ball joint from Auto Surplus in Mitcham, got it pressed at Pedders (for free) and back home for the re-build. All back together, then took it down to get a new front tyre - as it was torn to shreds from rubbing on the chassis. Lucky i had the day off, ey?
Still to-do...replace front flares and spoiler. Hoist 'er up and check the rest of the front end & running gear in general. Need new rear tyres - tread good, but they're old and rooted. Soon to be done, fix flat spot in carby (old wound), replace worn barn door hinge, fix some of the rust starting to come thru since re-build. Re-paint!
