Cant remeber there name exactly, maybe Frieberg in West Perth had a fleet deal with Holden for there cars and sold franchises for Mr Whippy with vans all fitted out as part of franchises.
$600 pounds was the original price in 1966 when they started out, believe it or not.
In 1967 they began importing italian and german built refrigeraters and required more space to allow sellers to move around the van selling so they bought into larger bedford vans.
Apparantly Streets Ice cream in the East bought the rights to the franchise in 1971 and were tied to GMH till 1977.
The term "Mr Whippy" is UK in origin refering to a a ice cream vendor who had a three wheel bike he sold ice confections from on Brighton in summer.
Thats the best I can do.

Wasn't Mr Whippy's catch phrase: Often licked, never beaten ?

A company in Norther England sold "Morrison" bodied bedford icecream vans, several were imported as icecream vans and came to Perth. I always stop and get an icecream at Lake Monger in Leederville just to see the van. It has a Morrison badge on one side of the bonnet where most have a bedford badge. I like the 70's laminex fitout inside nearly as much as the van and the icecream. I looked up Morrison on the internet when i first saw it and from memory they did ambulances and icecream van conversions, but it was a while ago so cant really remember.
