Hi Everyone
Does anyone know where I can get some bubble windows for my 1979 Cf bedford SWB.
Cheers
-
You will have to get them made from a plactic Manufacture, but time you get the plug made the cost gets a bit high. shame Aaron does not do them anymore I think his windows were very high quality.......

Hi Brendan,
My brothers a Beddy nut &Engineer, hes startn his own bubble window business in a few months!
He made his own Chevy symbol mould n bubbles for his bed years ago and said he will do it after he finishes fixn my beddy, yay, coz i need side bubbles myself!

Jokes aside warren...I NEED BALLS NOW,LOL!!
-
FOR MY RACK!!
Anyone got any SERIOUS ideas here, my beddys nearly finished and i just want to drive the bloody thing!!!
-
have you taken the parts needing replacement into a bearing shop and asked them to match it? if they dont stock the parts they should be able to recommend somewhere to try
-
what bearings Poochimama? i dont know how to explain it other than a picture but ill try, is it the bearings in the bit that bolts to the rubber thingy that connects the rack to the steering shaft..
i find it hard to belive that they would wear thou cause there is no real load on them.
are you sure its not the nylon bush that keeps the rack nice and firm? because thats about the only thing that wears and the tie rod ball joints.

THANKU for yr help Matte, yep ..did that, there rare as rockn horse shit apparently? Its a origianl Beddy part!
Ben, yes..there are two lots of bearings, the dickhead that had it before me must of went down the beach, sand in the steering shaft stem thingy, right thru it all and the actually slack was found to be caused by one of the two bearings(the cage of it,totally worn, the other bearing cage will have to do as we finallllly found one bearing mob that has a close match and steve my bro has to make a spacer as its 2mm higher!
SEVENTY FREAKN DOLLARS for one ball bearing cage thing, jezus! Was gonna replace the two seeing its all pulled apart but just now replace the crap one only, still its cheaper than having to buy the complete rack&pinion huh, just to get the bearings out of it!
He rang evvverywhere in Melb, bearing mobs just said good luck till he found one thats a wee couple of mill higher,so the spacer plate steve will make up to go on top!
Thanks boys for replying, luv buga mob, always helpn everyone, its kool!
Cheers

Any one gets in this predicament for a Beddy steering warn bearing,replacement..u cant get them unless u buy the entire rack n pinnion,BUT we found a close match bearing alone, not cheap at $70ea and 2mm higher so u have to make a spacer for it,well thats wot my bro did,now it fist perfect & does the job great, yay!

seems like some interest....... a copy of a pm to KGB 87 (or something like that....very tied)sounds good but!
yep no probs.........
1) have you cut ur windows yet in ur van?
YES.------ hold a "light" board or ply against your window and "trace" to board, cut template and double/triple chk against cut out, you will want a 3 mm gap all way round.(measure sealthickness/centre core between metal and window) Fit seal, then fit template as you would a bubble. If it's too big you can then shave the template till nice snug fit ( good for security and water tightness) .
NOW transfer trace to MDF. give yourself a good 150+ mm surround for bolts ....cut a second piece same size....
measure the depth of your seal (how far the window will sit in the rubber) i think i gave myself 4/5 mm again measure your seal! now measure in from trace this distance cut out VERY NEATLY as this will be the edge of the bubble and will be molded to a nasty cut if rough and will stick out like dogs balls.
-
put two MDF'S together drill and bolt using washers and good nuts and bolts as it needs to be done and undone several times. they will then drill and fit an air coupling to the solid piece then heat and blow your windows for you.(you will need to tell them how deep you want them to be blown)+ the colour + thickness of acrylic. ill google some number to see if i can find them.
