a bloke told me the other day in SA if you by another SA vehicle you dont need to go over the pits. its only if you bring it in from another state.

he also told me his mate sold his rust repaired with gaffa tape torana to his next door neibour for 300 bucks and he has been driving around ever since.

cheers
ben

1. If you buy an interstate vehicle, it needs to have a vehicle ID check which just checks Chassis, Vin, engine numbers to make sure its not stolen etc.
2. However if whilst doing this check, they don't like what they see, rust, illegal mods etc. i believe they can defect you, and then you need to do a roadworthy check. (Pits)

3. I bought my van locally, the rego had ran out, and i just needed to get the details of the previous owner, engine, chassis numbers, Rego plate number, etc and then pay stamp duty. No checks needed.

If this van has not been rego'd with the 351 before, then see dot point 1, and judging by the pics, dot point 2 will follow

If it has had all the paperwork for the 351 conversion done already, then, dotpoint 3

As with a lot of my posts, this is just my experience, not the law, so do not take everything i say as being 100% correct

Now which of Ben's fronts are you talking about the Freedom Machine one or the tilt front? If it's the Freedom Machine one then there will be no probs as nothing is removed the tilt fronts will no doubht require some reinforcing to apease the rego gods this shouldn't be a problem just have a chat with them as every state varys, on the Oz Rodders site a guy is fitting a fibreglass Trans Am front to a van and all he had to do was mount some square tube behind the fibreglass front to make up for the loss of the origional front bomper

i looked at this van about a year or so ago tyred to find out about reg then and none of the numbers mached any thing at the reg depo so they tolled me had to go to regency. so i walked away from it plus the bloke wanted neely $3000.00 for it said it was left to him from some one that owed him money.

lol ok firstly , theres no way i'd rvrn think f driving it like that, by the time i get to driving it will be better than new and have more modern day cons than your dads mercedes, but if it needs to go to the pits i'll make sure its all done by the book
keep any info you might have coming still very keen,
it has a 3 pce tailgate but it kind of looks like its only 1 pce.
cheers

it spent some time in W.A came from vic was here in I think 93-94 pickmeup owned it (if its same van need to see rear photo) had corvett wheels then , and diff was a bit narrow but the grill was complete and was the chrome WB statesman type it was unlicensed and spent a good 8months out the back of a factory in Osborne park. Was sold to a guy in huntingdale perth and I lost track of it after that I think Bro had hassles with numbers that didn't match either.

ok, 2 people have said numbers dont match, when we say numbers dont match are we talking engine number on registration or are we talking body chassis numbers have been changed and the car is that dodgy it will never be registered?

engine number didnt match body numbers at reg computer so they said it nedded full inspection and with that motor in it it didnt look like it was going to pass mite pay to get a check on the engine number to make shore it not hot (been caught before)

here is a pic of the rear if anyone has any more info or can confirm anything, i can deal with the getting engineered part if thats all it needs but if the actual plates/ vin chassis numbers are dodgy then obviously its going to be a problem at regency. cheers guys

...i bought puff the tragic wagon over to sa from vic (it still had vic rego )& as it was in my name in vic i could reregister it in sa without goin over the dreaded pits, just had to pay a transfer fee & three months rego cost, sa is still the easiest state to register things if a tad of bodge n bluff is needed, even cars tha have sa rego has expired for a year or more you just pay an extra fee (of course you do  ;D  ;D ) cos its expired more than 90 days where other states send you to the pit if expired more than three months . sounds like yours may be a bit more dramaous but, i hope that is not the case foryou,....theres my 2 bobs worth cheers dears
