mine is an XA falcon - or maybe a XB..

disc front drum rear, but i have the f100 drums on the rear of my van..
not sure what is involved in the conversion as my van had this setup when i got it, i've just replaced the current setup with newer parts.

Wazzah

I did a similar conversion, I had one of those mobile hose guys make me up two flexible hoses to go from bedford pipe work on van into the HQ caliper, and had my standard Bedford Master cylinder resleeved. The only comment that I would offer in that the bore on the Bedford master is a bit small and there is more brake pedal travel to get the sufficient volumne of fluid into the calipers. I intend replacing brake master with early commodore master.

Cheers

Joe

hey Joe, I used a HQ master cylinder, overcame the extra rod travel by placing a 1/2" nut in front of the rod, solved the excessive travel issue and works like a gem  ;)

youll just have to do something with the clip that holds the cap on the hq master cause it will cause your bonnet to sit up. cheers ben

I can't remember what mine is off, but it clears the bonnet with out any modifications.
It was off some small jap car, toyota corona maybe???
I spent ages at a wreckers looking under all the bonnets, trying to find where it came from.
I did find it, but silly me didn't write it down, and forgot

My van's a 1980 CF LWB Mk 1 with HQ discs, PBR calipers and Ford 9" rear drums. I used the stock CF master cylinder but resized it from 3/4" to 7/8" bore and it works fine. I also downsized the huge Ford rear wheel cylinders to stop them locking up. If you haven't changed the rear brakes then give the stock master cylinder a try first. You can then resize the bore if you need to.

Back in the day we used to replace the beddy gear with a Holden torana LC master coupled to a ford XC master. The bolt holes on the master were widened only slightly and the pushrod was shortened to suit, worked well

On modern cars there is a difference between disc front/disc rear systems and disc front/drum rear systems. The difference is in the proprtioning valve. If you are running disc front/drum rear, you will need to run a m/cyl from a vehicle with that set up.

As for m/cyl bore size and w/cyl bore size, whilst some variation may not be cause for big problems, I suggest trying to match them as best as possible for best performance. I've yet to mod mine as I'm still umming over my diff set up and that will probably dictate what I do brake wise.

Isn't this fun trying to engineer out the Beddy faults!
