Hey everyone quick question. In NSW is it legal to have no rear window?
-
Don't know about NSW but according to an engineer in QLD you only have to be able to see a point in line with the middle of your vehicle and 15 metres behind it, so mirrors may do this if not reversing camera ;)
-
Yea I was also wondering if the reversing camera would suffice. Thanks Hotrod!

My ....transit. . . doesn't have rear windows at all and if it did, I wouldn't be able to see because of the load. Windows are an optional extra on commercial vehicles so I'd say yes, legal.
But......don't hold me to that. ;)
mark.

That's what I was thinking, I will have things in the way of it all the time. So I'll have to find out if that means only commercial vehicles can have none. Tough they would still make me keep the rear view mirror I suppose, every time I have hired a moving truck they have had a mirror even though you can't use it for driving. Thank you Heavy Judy

that's for doing your hair ;)

What if you have no hair............... In NZ if the car / van / truck is fitted with a rear vision mirror from factory, you have to still have it even if it is of no use.
-
In which case you could just fit one of those reversing camera LCD screens that are made to look like a rear-view mirror.
-
if you need a rear window then most of the grey nomads and motorhome owners are in trouble, including me.

and me:( who just got a roadworthy a month and half ago:)

Don't have to have a rear window in Vic, so long as you have functioning side mirrors both sides of vehicle as I understand it ;)
-
The rule is if you have 2 side mirrors you dont need a rear vision mirror, or vision out the back, as side mirrors do the job. Also with the beddy, because it is technically a commercial vehicle, it does not need to have the rear and side glass in, and something else, if you do, you can go ambulance tint on the side and rear glass, because technically there was no glass originally. I Was told that by a glass and tint company.

Thank you everyone for your comments they have been really helpful. Just learnt to weld today so those side windows are gone tomorrow and i'll hopefully get to the rear in the near future.
