Title: Beddy Insurance
Post by: jesus_is_alright on December 28, 2010, 10:54:39 AM
I Just bought my wife a Toyota Aurion and so now i'm looking for insurance for it, but thats kinda beside the point
Who do you have your Beddy's insured through?
All the online quotes spit error messages at you as soon as you select Bedford
The one quote i could get was through CGU which was a yearly premium of $462, but this was for the maximum agreed value of $2310.
My van will be worth more than 5x that so what do i do
Shannons won't insure me because i'm under 25, and Just Car throws says there were no bedfords made in 1979
RAA has a premium worth more than the value of the vehicle...
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I am with NRMA for my cruiser, here in qld, and they do agreed value, so maybe try them. The other thing is, i never do quotes on-line, i like to be talking to someone and get their name, so that i have someone to blame if something goes wrong.  ;) When i was trying to get insurance for my hummer, the worse they could say was NO. Most did, they did'nt even know what a hummer was. So try ringing all those that rejected you on-line and see if you have more luck on the phn.

My beddy, old fairlane, 2x harleys and a unfinished Ratrod are threw Shannons with restricted use (8000 k's a year). this is done as a package. Was going to change to Ryno, but they backed out due to agreed value. Our daily's are with cgu.
Been with Shannons for years, had no claims, so l don't know what there realy like, l hate how they de value classic's every year. To me, that should up the value, instead we have a blow out every year and then they come around

Hey thanks for the posts, dad's mate says his bike is insured through shannons and they are 'a bunch of kids who have no idea about cars/bikes' and every claim he's had to make has been so much hasstle. But again, they won't insure me for another 3 years due to my age.
NRMA only do insurane in NSW,ACT,TAS and QLD
I might try ringing them or going into my CBA branch and see what comminsure do.
Thanks for the help guys, keep em coming

When i tried to get insurance for my humvee back in 2004, they told me that because my truck was worth $135,000-00, the max they insure for is $100,000-00, strange, because they are suppose to insure classics, and they can be worth upwards of a million bucks, so i just think it was a case they did not know what a humvee was, had nothing in the database so just said no.

I rang NRMA b4 xmas about fixing my cruiser, this is for you rossie, the cruser is insured for $65,000 agreed, in 04, and $500 for the excess. Ok when i rang a few weeks ago they tell me that it is now insured for $62,000 and the excess is now $600. Also my premiums are up every year. WHY ? here is the reason, with all the storms comes more payouts, so i am paying more per year, and getting less if i wreck the truck, and the excess is more, so i told her, i have been with NRMA for 35yrs, and had 1 claim in that time that was not my fault, so it cost them nothing, and this is how you treat me, guess what, when i'm due for renewl in a few months i may go somewhere else. But i will fix the cruiser first, then change, its all money, and loyalty is a thing of the past.
