is it possible 2 take the body clean of the chassis.
is it just held down by bolts or is it welded or both

Bedford vans have a monocoque type construction so that the body forms part of the chassis. So no you cant remove the body.

Eddy and I lifted the whole van up off the front end/motor/gearbox - its the easiest way to do an engine swap.

Here using an engine hoist

And here using a gantry, block and tackle

gantry system is less hastle thou.. you can roll the front end out without having to put the van on stands way up in the air (usually quite scary on a windy day)

I would think that starting with a cab/chassis, extending the chassis and mounting a couple of bodie sections on it would be easier than stretching a long wheel base.

Not sure how this one was done but looks good.

I think I have a couple of pictures of it but wont be home until tuesday

from memory its running a 400 chev which is mounted in the front of the second section, which is the normal length for a jumbo from the rear wheels. It's also dark brown
