Title: Wheels and Tires (what fit)
Post by: doofhard on August 15, 2008, 10:12:15 AM
I've seen many pictures of some seriously beefy wheel and tires (gotta love think rubber) But what fits.  I can't remember whos van it was but there were 17" on a silver beddy on the old site.  Wonder if there is any modification needed to fit.  I'm personally hoping for 15 x 10/12 on the rear and 15 x 8/10 on the front.  I'll be engineering mine so wondering if I have limits or not.

The silver one was Dion's and has ford stud pattern diff and front discs, don't think there was much else different.

Hi doofhard,

We got 15'x11" rims with 12" rubber on the rear. I got a LWB that originally was set up with duals so plenty room. I've got still an easy 1" on the outside and 6" on the inside before I'm hittin anything!  8) Running 14"x235 Toyo's on the front with no probs either. There's HQ discs on the front and a Chey 12 bolt corporate diff out of a pick up in the rear.  ;) Looking to go 315s on the rear if I can find some!

Peace!

315's is insanely awsome!!

anyone know the regulations on how much wider you can go with an engineer cert? like just suppose i wanted to use orig bedfrd width plus 10" rims? come to think of it it may lok rediculous..

I'm guessing that would be some serois strain on the diff but who cares when you've got fat rubber!!!

lyndon it depends on your diff, then it depends on your flares.. and you can always make wider flares..

These are my fantasy! They're Bias Ply though  :( So they'll wear out too quick and cost more in fuel  :( :( I'm still lookin though  ;D

Just for reference - My diff is 65" from outside drum to outside drum and I have the standard dual wheel flares on the rear with about a 6 1/2" - 7" dish on the rim.  8)
