oh hooo mezzmo.
the way the sun has changed the color slightly in the pic makes it look almost like my paint choice.
i hope you don't mind but i have printed it out and its on the fridge for motivational purposes.
-
yeah - i'm really startiing to get excited about her now, she's starting to look just the way i saw her in my head!!! Glad you like her enough for a motivational pic Able - pleasure to be on your fridge - she's not decked out inside Crazy but you can get a glimpse of some of the interior in my gallery that's going inside - i'm really looking forward to her coming home so i can start the fit out.

-
Able i think your doing a fantastic job also. That flare photo you posted recently looked fantastic
-
im always chasing money for the next step ben. the greatest tool i have is this site and the advise i get from its members.
-
That green reminds me of the green bedford van that vanished from the face of the earth in about 78-79, the young couple were driving from one side of sydney to north shore, the van vanished, was never seen again, couple were never seen again. Rumour has it that they were connected to the sydney drug scene, and the van was lying in a very deep dam somewhere. Does anyone else remember the story. The van was lime green.
George.
-
the reward is still active
-
Hi able, i havent heard about it for years, I remember back in the early 80s the news papers ran full page stories, with maps and large pics of the bedford they were driving. I had not thought about it untill about 6 months ago, when they had one of these shows on like darklands or simular, and they did a re-enactment of another drugs case, and part of the show had a couple in a VW van, everything was identical to the bedford disappearence except for the van, the show used a vw instead of the bedford. I wonder if they will ever solve the case ?
George.
-
Hey guys I remember that Green Bedy probably taken by little green men That's why I didnt paint mine green hah
-
looks great mezmo i agree if mine even looks half as good as that when finished ill be very happy
-
Type "green bedford van" in google you will get this story and the one about the van that went missing.
I was looking to see if I could find any othe lime greem beddies around some time ago and at the time it was the only one I found, there are at least two in Perth, one with no working lights (mine) and one in good nick.
Dave
-
ok googled it . . . lots of shat bout green bedford vans an this post. . . BUT. . . couldnt see anything about the green missing bedford ??? ??? ??? is that cos its missin? ::) the plot thickens . . even the article about the green missing bedford IS MISSING gasp!!!! this is indeed sinister. . or . .just coincidence ??? ???maybe the missing article is in the same place as the missing green beddy is this in itself a "misstery" ::) ::) hmmmm think i better miss off eh :P
-

You wont go wrong, James is one of those rare creatures that says he'll do something and actually does it - he's been a pleasure to work with and really seems to know his stuff!!
-
Heart break my fellow bedowins!! i was at the exhaust place today and we have decided not run the lake pipes - several reasons and all pretty legit! :-[ a very sad day indeed, however all is not lost a i wil be putting them on the Vette instead so its not a total loss - (still think they would have looked better on the van though)
-
Gutted! :'( They would have looked crash hot.
-
What - not even as dummies ?
Warren
-
Definitely not. Dummies are not cool at any time.
-
gotta agree with rogue on that one!

Wirings not finished yet, James busted his ass to get the engine loom, gauges and necessary stuff ready for the fire up and he is making the balance of the loom off site. Spoke with him yesterday and we are hoping to finish off in the next couple of weeks.

It's great when a plan comes together.

-
Well done Mezzmo, I seem to be living my bash dream through you!
I am hoping to get my Bedford van for my bash next year, so I'm sure I'll be chatting with you about what you did and how you got it there. Whilst I am not in a Beddy this year, I have acquired a 1982 old school Jeep Cherokee and in the process of bash preparing - if I can get it on the road for our bash in Oct. Keep us informed of yours!
-
i'll post the dates of the bash shortly, it will be great to catch up with the WA crew if possible.
Hey Adrian, if i can offer any advice on set up etc i will be happy to - probably best to wait till after the bash just to see if we went wrong somewhere! we have learnt so much through this experience its been
f**k'n awesome (and expensive!!). But.....and this is the good bit - if we have done it right, next years bash will be a piece of cake now the hard parts out of the way.
a short update.... drove her to Murchison yesterday (about 2 1/2 hours away - sat on 110kph so easily - broke down on the way home today about an hour out of Murch, simple bloody wire and we were away again - doesn't matter how much you check and re check there's always something!!!!
Living the beddie dream guys........
Mezz
-
Hay Mezz, what diff ratio do you run, take it you have the standard VN 4 speed auto and not the T700. Cheers
-
hey bas standard 4 speed auto is a turbo 700.. isnt it??
-
Ben not sure, but don't think so, well not in the VN Holden, don't think they have the lock T..converter. Maybe someone else knows? mine hits 130km no problems but don't know diff ratio if it's standard or been changed.
-
nah vn has a locking touque converter. well mine does anyway.. but its v8 model. maybe different? but i doubt it. yours may just not be hooked up.
it will be t700 thats what they came out with standard behind the v6 and v8's in the vn..
ben
-
Thanks Ben, handy to know, changing the diff soon to single wheel standard Bedford ratio, so if I don't get over the 80k mark will know it is not a T700 or that it is not hooked up. Ben, hook up is where, I guess somewhere on top of the box? Cheers
-
i dont know about how to hook up locking tourqe converter but its different to over drive..
overdrive is the 4th gear.. so that will work.
locking tourque converter locks the touque converter and drops the revs another 200 - 300 rpm. same as driving a manual. trany fluid wont get hot either so great for towing. you can hook up tourqe converter lock up to be able to use in any gear making it great for towing also. tow in 3rd locked up. cruise in 4th locked up, going up hill? unlock converter so if it changes down it wont bang (not good for it obviously)
ben
-
Cheers, don't know much about them, but now at least have a little understanding. I just drive one!!! Thanks
-
hey bas sorry for the late reply, its running a t700 and the diff ratio is 3:5 well at least i think it is! I bought it off Benny and thats what he said it was - sits on about 1900rpm @ 120km's and reall has a pretty good take off at the lights as well.
-
1900 at 120! thats bit to tall ay or is it ok for the beddie?
-
Hay Mezz, is the T700 standard auto's in the VN holden? Cheers
-
That was my understanding.
-
Ok then, that means the diff ratio is not really a problem, as far as hitting the speed limit on the open road, would just effect the rev's. ???
-
Here's a little teaser, she's coming up a treat - final pics by the end of the week.
-
Hey mezz, nice, but i am assuming that what you have done with the mural and wing lights is photoshopped, is that correct. Are you planning on doing this to your van ? if so will look great.
george.
-
i think youll find they are stickers george.. gee youd be doing well to do that in photoshop
-
ok, the only reason i thought photoshop, mezz had a rear window, unless it is the see through vinyl graffic. I'm sure we will get the full story from mezzmo. Love the imagination though.
george.
-
Its a flat piece of perspex fitted to the outside of the door covering the original window opening. That allowed us to put the graphic (sticker) right over the whole door. Its not see through as the back is now fully enclosed for storage (pics later) The side door has been replaced with one that has a large window opening, with that one we have used the see through graphics as well as the driver and passenger windows.
Its come up a treat and we will be completely finished by Friday ready for Tuesdays start. Been a hell of a ride so far......learnt a lot, swore a lot more but have had a shit load of fun.
I'll post some good quality pics on the weekend of the finished beast.
-
Hey Mezz
The wheel tyre combo in the picture, are they what your running for the bash ??
Warren
-
hi mezzmo just a quick question.i have bought a similar universal power window kit.my question is does it work well?and is it worth the effort to fit it?
-
Hi Wazza, yep thats the set up we are using, 15 x 7 with a light truck tyre.
Hi Beddymad, i have removed the power windows for the time being and gone back to manual, just if the electrics broke down on the bash for whatever reason we would be up s**t creek. As far as fitting, they were easy as, for whatever reason tho, my drivers side window just wouldnt go up. Went down ok! just didnt have time to dick around with it - i'll di it when i get back.
-
Thanks Mezz, looks like a good combo, what sort od dollars for those wheels and tyres ?
All the best for the Bash - are you doing a blog or updates of any sort ?
I'd be cean to hear you progress.
Warren
-
hey beddymad, what was the brand of kit you bought for your windows ? I am looking at a kit that rocket sell, but am interested in anyone that have power windows and how smoothe they are in a beddy.
Hey mezz, i'm guessing any have baked sparky could do the windows.
george
-
George, mate, if i can do it.........any one can!!
Hey Wazza, i got the wheels and tyres from General Tyres in Rowville, and get this, Chris Hummer (the owner) donated them - yep - donated. 6 rims and 6 tyres, fitted and balanced. I was absolutely blown away and have been amazed at the generosity of businesses that we have become involved with through the bash. All of our headlights, driving lights, flashers etc - all donated!
You really get to see the human side of people in these instances and for the most part, its pure generosity. No demands - just happy to help. kinda makes you want to tear up!!!
Last count we are up over $10,000.00 in donations not counting the parts and accessories. Cant wait to see the looks on the kids faces as we cruise across the Nullabor.
I will be trying to upload pics etc as we go, but being the computer illiterate that i am, i cant guarantee!
-
Well here we are, just 2 more sleeps and we're n the bash - been a killer weekend trying to fix all the little hiccups (of which there were plenty) its 1.30am Monday and i think i finally have it ready....touch wood. Anyhow, here's a pic of the finished baby, i've uploaded a dozen or so pics to the gallery
-
You're a star Mezzo. Have a great trip. Hope all your hard work brings you home safely.
Adrian.
-
awesome mezz, but make sure you wear your seatbelt, dont want you falling out. lol Great graffics mate. Warm up that camera, hope you can shoot video as well, looks like you are going to have some fun.
george.
-
hey mezz, just had a look at the rest of your pics in your gallery, 10 outa 10 mate, your ride will be the best in the bash. The colour is going to be of red by the end of the run, make sure you get a pic of it b4 you give it a bath. It has me wanting to get mine finished now, so i rang my sheet metal guy up and he will be back next week to get started again. Between you and rogue ther are going to be some nice vans out there.
george.
-
Thanks Guys, Well, sparky just left so thats it - its in the lap of the gods now, if we aint ready now we never will be!
As the van belongs to me, i am the lucky stiff to be sleeping in her - but John decided that wasn't such a great idea (jealous) so the bastard has painted the entire interior in Glow in Dark Paint!!!! Now that should be interesting!
-
The van looks great! Nice job. Hope the bash goes (is going?) well.
-
Saw quite a few bash cars driving around Ballarat, but sorry to say no mean green beddie. Have the best time Mezz (that wont be hard) ;D ;D ;D
-
Back from the bash and man waht a great time - the little beddie had a few issues, like frying the electrics the day before the start, got hit by a tree on day 1 etc etc but she kept on going and made it to the end.
And.....check this out boys and girls, the little green beddie and her on board hippies took out the #1 overall winner prize for the 2010 bash. what a great end to a great trip, roll on next year!!!
More pics in the gallery and i'll upload more as they come.
-
Hey mezmo, you long haired twit, lol ;D ;D ;) are you sure it was a tree that did that damage to the van, and not elvis's elbow lol ;D ;D
Also what was it like surfing in the dust, bet it clogged up the wax. lol ;D ;D congrats mate, clad your back safe, hopefully there will be an a-team van with you next year.
george.
-
well done mezzmo!
-
Well Done and congrates ;D ;D
-
great to hear well done
-
Great to hear you are back safely and with a few good stories I'm sure. Whilst not your intention, well done on the trophy. When you are back to reality, it would be great to see your van.
Adrian.
-
No problem Adrian, she's still in Perth, i think we get her back in the next cupla weeks.
-
Well done Mezza
Cant wait to hear the (Tall) stories ;D
Warren
-
No problem Adrian, she's still in Perth, i think we get her back in the next cupla weeks.
hmmhhmmmmm 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) ::) ::) ::) ;)
-

-
u jump the fence ill get the gate...... ;)
-
done deal.......cause we are both very stealthy in stature.....no one will notice us!!!!!
-
Do me a favour - if you succeed, can you give her a good wash for me!!!
-
congrats on job well done
-
Hey mezzmo, some questions for ya.
Are you running HQ disks with CF booster?
Were did you mount your air intake box, did you use the commodore one?
accelerator cable, get one made up or found one that fitted?
cheers
-
done deal.......cause we are both very stealthy in stature.....no one will notice us!!!!!
hahahaha
-
Hi Busy,
Running the standard booster with the hq discs but after the bash we are going to look for a different booster to give us a bit firmer pedal, it does the job but it could definitely be better. The air intake box is mounted directly behind the bonnet scoop and is the original commodore one - using the original filters. Worked like a charm. As far as the accelerator cable, i am positive that the mechs had a new one made, i can check this out for you when i next talk to them.
When the van gets back i'll take some close ups of the air intake if you like.
Cheers
-
Thanks that will be good, I've mounted my intake box under the booster and my radiator is a bit higher so is very tight for all the pipe work
-
We found that because the V6 sits so low, we had a shitload of room between the top of the engine and the underside of the bonnet, what are you running Busy?
-
same as you, the 3.8 VN series one engine - in the standard CF
-
there is a photo of the back of Mezz'z beddy in the local albany paper.....i will try to take a pic and post it soon
-
Hey Kimbo, is there any chance i can get you to get me some copies? that would be awesome. i can PM you with my details.
Cheers
Mezzmo
-
we have a star amoungst us, way to go mezz. We are in the process of where to run our intake and filter box now, i was going to sit mine on the left behind the head lights, and run my hose down the LHS of the motor, i guess there really is not a right or wrong place to run them, am i right ? I am hoping to keep my engine cover as low profile as possible, i have always hated bulky engine covers. ???
george.
-
sure Mezzmo,,,,send me your details
