How tall is a swb Beddie ? Just looking at my tiny garage and the roller door seems really low. Help would be appreciated as I'm a bit worried now
-
a lot depends on the tyres - profile of them etc
when i first got my custom van as a standard van i had to let the air out of the tyres to get it in the garage, but when i got my standard van it goes in and out without hassle and even have the cab lights on top

Mine is just more than 2150 as it hits the bar that says I cant park in the underground carpark at work every day. I just have to dodge the light fittings and it fits just fine. (it is standard 76 cfs with a camper poptop which I reckon is about 10-15cm)

I recon the only sure fire way of knowing is to put a straight edge on the highest point and measure to the ground. When mine is off the hoist i will be doing this to garrantee i dont leave my roof anywhere i dont want it to be. ;D The spec sheets may be accurate, but what you have in your van may weigh more then the next guy and so on, i bet if everyone at the melbourne get together measured the heights of their vans, there would not be 2 the same. Measure yours to be sure, 2mins could save a lot of embarrasment.

hey rossie, i drive a landcruiser 100 series, as daily driver, i also have my wheelcair mounted to the roof so i can go out on my own without help, and i am restricted from about 95% of all undergrounds. Noticed a few weeks ago, i went to a new renoed shopping centre, they have the bar that goes across entry with the height stamped on it, problem was the height was on the entry not exit, but there was more then one entry without a restriction bar overhead. I got to this bar, knew i could not get out, could not go back, cars behind me, they would not move and let me back up to an empty space so i could let them go. So after another warning, i threw the truck into reverse, watched my reverse cam screen and backed up, these dickheads finally realised i was going to park on their bonnet, i tell you not, looking at the screen all i saw were cars scrambling like rats. I mean how many times do you have to tell these morons that my chair restricts my height, can i back up and let you guys go so i can go. My gran kids were in the back, and love it when the reverse screen is on, they loved watching these idiots scampering. There is no common sense out there, in my defence, i use that centre every couple of years, first time since reno, so did not know the layout. Crazy part is they had disabled parking right near this height bar, they must think all wheelchair people drive matchbox cars. Not this black duck, bigger the better. lol ;D Wait till i get the beddy on the road, their going to see big. oh yeh.

Ha Ha George...Now i would of loved to see that :D Just last weekend i took my truck into an underground carpark ,and like you looked for the height bar and managed to just touch the bottom of it. But some poor bugger was comming in from another lower entrance with a landy trayback (he had orange flashing lights on the top ) and SMASH!!! off they came. I was watch him and im pretty sure he said something along the lines of "gosh thats a bit of a bother" (NOT) ;D

hey john, mate between the brainless drop kicks in council who approve some of these centres, and the impatient morons that drive cars, it's a wonder there are not more problems. Considering 35% of all cars sold today are 4x4s and other large vehicles, it amazes me they still have undergrounds and the like that you can not get a 4x4 into. The other thing is, they do not take into account that some of us in a wheelchair, do have roof mounted chair lifters. Because i do have a roof mounted set up, everytime i go somewhere new i have to plan it to make sure i can get in and out of the place, and that there is a ramp for chair access. You would be surprised how many places i dont go to because i can not get in the door. >:( ;D
George. oh well thats life ;D
