He looks alot like Graham Dolphin, but I dont think he was working for Lance back then.
The only two I remember were a guy called Ian and another called Paul Meinke who wasnt there full time but worked at Channel 9 in those days.
The blue transit behind your van was there from day one and had some radical running gear fitted to it.
If I am right, your van was done the same time as the Jag grill fronted bedford that had almost the same window treatment as yours as well as a stepped roof.
Man my head hurts now......

Hi pickmeup, Bedfordcrazy, Yes we are going back in history now, graham sounds familier but not sure as going back to 1983-84 before I was married, don't think I can afford to do that again, Just cleaning her up after years of faithful service in the Pilbara, I vagully remember the Transit and I think it was running a Ford Cleveland V/8 and running gear in her,
Regarding the raised roof the whole front lower section of  Roof plus at least 3 to 4 inches wide section around the whole Van was is standard,  (think of an oversize Sunroof) The rear raised section was a fibreglass Mold taken from a Long Wheelbase Bedford and joined by SS pop rivets and using Microfibres & Epoxy Resin to the 4 inch wide section, and is Super Strong, I think they make Jet Airliners the same way now?  I do not have any images of that done as was working offsure on the burrup Gas Project then but I know it was not part of a Kit,  its also good that you are finishing off your Van Bedfordcrazy although don't forget the Wife?

Many Regards to you Both   Ian

thanks Ian, this may shock you, but my wife is the one pushing me to finish the van and get it on the road again. She also offered to go with me when i start picking up all the new parts for the van, she also offered to kill me if i try to sell the van lol  ;D I guess i wont be getting buried in my van, she wants it when i croak. Mind you, when i first met her i was driving my van as a daily driver, so she used to like going out in it, but i guess when the beddy bug bites its hard to shake.
George.  ;D :D ;D

Not surprised he didnt want to talk, very unsavory end to his ownership there.
Lots a talk about being closed down by people of a dubious background.
He went all VW for awhile somewhere in Ossie Park before getting into mobile phones when bricks were all the rage!
Hey Craig, post that jag fronted vans pic will ya!

Hi Bedfordcrazy, Thats great, I met my wife the same way and we have been together in the same Van since then, we have been all though the Pilbara, even inland to Shay Gap, Nullagine and Witnoon Gorge (when it was all dirt roads), up to katherin & Darwin many times driving up & down from Perth to Port Hedland, if you do a lot of km and want somewhere to camp out thats the way to do it,  (Sound a bit like I've been every where Man)  Regarding Lance he was a terrific Guy at first but as pickmeup mentioned it was an unsavory end to his business, and it was soon after my Van was finished he left the business, shame, he knew his stuff, Lance did the stepped Roof in 1983, and as far as I can remember the APOXY RESIN and MICROFIBRES was then sold by PERMATECH, in fact I brought some more in 1993 when I took the gutter off and resealed it,
Nice to hear from you Guys
Regards Ian

Hi Jimsvan, In the 80's there was a promotion by Coca Cola by having one Customized CFS Bedford in every state of Australia, by using the Local Radio Stations they had random number plates read out and you had a certain time to call the Radio station if your number plate came up, then you were put in a draw to win the Van, I think it was a Young Teenage Girl who won it in WA, although some other members of this site could help out more, the Vans and the customized Panels  (Spoiler, Flared Guards ect) were contracted out to Vancraft in the Eastern states somewhere, and they were kind enough to sell these Panels to the Public, if you go to Ians Gallery under (At the Van Shop osborne Park)  there are images there of the panels being fitted, this was in 1983, 84, I do not know if these are still available but some members of this User Group may be able to help you,   Regards Ian

How you going Craig, Bedfordcrazy  Still looks as good as when I saw it many years ago, really inspired my doing my Van up back then, and thanks for the info of where to source out those rare fibreglass body items, and just looking at the Local Quoka there are still some Bedfords around do do up!
