It was just pointed out that May 1 is May Day, a big day in the expat finnish calendar, and I have never been able to drive as early as 10am on the 2nd May before.  I will give it my best shot but I am only a 60/40 chance.
With Griff, John and Craig attending I will push my very poor willpower, but salmiak flavoured vodka takes no prisoners.

Whilst checking out the picnic spot at Serpentine Dam ,these 2 ruffians came over to hassle me. Apparently their names were Craig and Griff and they are known to police in the area. ;D :D ;D :D

aren't you supposed to FILL the diff with banana SKINS not the flesh? and apparently it lasts quite a while.. not sure about the smell tho..  :-X

I can't commit to coming yet, its too far away, and i know there are plenty of birthdays around april/may/june.. i'll try and put a few hours aside for a cruise tho. I'm keen to get the bedford in convoy.

Drivers door is ALMOST finished.. another coat of undercoat, then rub it back, then paint white and mount it.. then just need the bubble windows back and a tank of fuel  ;D

My van let me down the other night, no headlights no taillights no brake lights and an intermittent stereo.
I had to leave it on the side of the road and drive it home when it got light, still if it only lets me down every few years with the amount of effort Ive put in I am happy
Does anyone in Perth know a good auto electrician pref Ossy Pk type of area, I have less than 2 weeks to fix the problem or I  be making the trip.

im guessing you've checked all the fuses and globes and still have the dramas..
I know a great auto leccy, but he's shut up shop, and im not sure if he's doing house calls to the general public. I can find out tho.
In the meantime, call around and try to find an old bloke that knows his stuff, as they'll usually give the best service and price.

Post by: Dave on April 21, 2010, 12:30:25 AM
Matte
It is not the globes as all lights have gone off brake, tail & headlights.
It isnt the fuses because Ive checked them and because they shouldnt all be on the same fuse.
The radio was cutting in and out so I reckon water has got in somewhere and has shorted something out in the wiring.
The wiring is half home handyman and also a fair bit has been replaced by someone else and the rest is standard.  I know the home handyman really well, and can vouch for the fact he isnt very handy. So I would bet on the wiring.
I would have a go at causing more wiring issues myself but with only a few days to the 2nd May, I will never get there in time.
I am working late weekdays and am going away on weekends so I am about stuffed.  I might use yellow pages and resign myself to paying too much.
At least the problem isnt intermittent, it is well and truly stuffed.
In saying all that I checked the wiring at night and with no lights in the van, by the light from my mobile phone, so it may be something easy I missed

cheers
Dave

at this stage i'll be coming, but the 10am meeting south of the river may mean im a little late.. we'll see how early i can wake up and how bad traffic is.. are you lot planning to hang around at the shops for long? i shouldn't be too late..

Anyway, if you post the cruise route then i'll be able to catch up no doubt. Unfortunately i can't hang out at the destination for ages as we have to be places in the arvo, but we'll have an hour or two to relax :)
See some of you soon...

Any pic's guy's? I may not be able to attend but seeing some pic's is a close second. I'm organising the disabled taxi to take me to the Hot Rod show at Burswood on Sat morning the 28th so if you see a big fella in a black electric wheel chair with chrome flames on it wearing a FOOSE cap, that's me so say G'Day
