Unfortunately they are not legal at all :(

Lakes!!! yummm I'm building my own out of 100mm stainless, saw the exhaust guy ,he sold me the materials to make 4 baffels 250mm long 2 for each pipe,a reducer on the ends,a bit of flexi pipe ,flanges a nd thats about it (I think).
Here's how mine will sit. Photo all legal over here as they don't extend beyond widest point of the vehical .
Cheers Kevin

i thought the exhausts have to exit a certain distance behind the rear most side door ??
-
They are not allowed to exit the passenger side at all.
-
in WA they are legal on beddys & tranits
-
The Messiah speaks the truth........
-
Unless the rules in Vic have changed recently then they should be ok. The height, the noise level and the exit point are the factors. Too low, no good, too noisy, no good, exit near opening door or window, no good. So on a van or tray there should be no problem.
-
As far as I know having the exhaust exit the passenger side is a no go in every state. This is of of the reasons why the AC Cobra replicas cant be sold with the side pipes connected. If anyone has some written proof from transport stating other wise I like to have it.
-
The Highrollers van club approached our transport mob here years ago and after exhaustive going back and forth got side pipes and their dirvitives for F100's,Bedford;s,and Transits legalised.
-
The following is copied from the Queensland Transport Modification guide and also from the Australian Code of Practice.
The exhaust outlet, if to the side of the vehicle, must
discharge to the right hand side of
the vehicle and downwards at an
angle to the horizontal of not less
than 15 degrees and not more than
45 degrees.
The exhaust outlet, if to the rear of
the vehicle, must discharge at not
more than 10 degrees above or 45
degrees below the horizontal.
