I used MDF to make my door trims. Its easy to work with and have incorporated my winder mechanisms and speaker mounts in. Once you finish shaping them spray them with some good urethane and then you can cover them in whatever you want. I intended to get a company in Perth that uses vacuum wrapping so it sucks the vinyl on just like a late style door trim. I also used MDF to make all my storage compartments in the rear.

I made these about 15 years ago out of thin MDF, some vinyl leatherette and velour. It looks a little beaten up after being stored for a while. Will make some new ones when I get that far but will probably try for something along similar lines. I used the arm rest and map pocket from an early Mazda 323.

here is a picture of the ones I made last year for my CF. slab of 6mm MDF, handful of xmas tree clips, piece of tin (colour steel), some gray vinel, some red dravlon and a bit of foam. Put it all together and finish with a staple gun.

Ive been toying with building a bead roller and then making some door skins out of alloy with patterns rolled into them.

No i'm sorry it dosen't have a speaker behind it, just added that bit because the panel looked a bit plain. So after much sitting and stairing at it decided to take the oval metal panel that is behind the door opener and cut its shape into the door panel.

Cheers Jeff
