Title: New to the forum and Beddies
Post by: Numnutz on January 11, 2010, 05:31:25 PM
Hello people. I'm Anthony,

A couple of months ago I bought my first Bedford. I think it was a pretty good deal, she's a 1976 and been registered as a 7 seater station wagon, lots cheaper on rego here in SA.
(Although I'll leave the rear seats out for as long as I can get away with it)
Being a people mover she hasn't suffered from too much wear and tear. No rust in the floors and all good doors.
About 10 years ago the owner spent way too much money to get someone to do a V8 conversion. But it seems to be done well
They put HQ discs on the front, a Chevy 12 bolt truck diff in the rear, and little Holden 253 V8 on LPG in the middle with a trimatic. Even nolathane suspension bits
She stops a bit too good with the back emptied out and empty fuel tanks. Ha-ha but It's all good to see the fear on the face of the driver in front when she locks a tyre.  ;D
Not sure what ratio is in the diff, it's not marked on the outside (anywhere that I have found), I have a HQ statesman with a 308 and it has a diff ratio of 3.5:1
So I'm guessing this one is around 3.7:1 or a bit higher, 4500rpm = 130kph she does more revs for the speed compared to my HQ.
(A little higher than I would like for long trips, but she gets of the line pretty quick.) ;)
Over all I'm happy with her. She’ll make a good van.
