Title: New Plates
Post by: Bedfordcrazy on January 08, 2010, 02:13:24 PM
Hi Guys & Girls, I need some advice, all my ID plates are so degraded that you can not read the info stamped on them. Can someone tell me, can I get replacement plates, if so where from ? If not can I get new plates made up, again who do I see. I want to get them sorted before I start  work on the drivers step where they are rivited. Thanks....
Regards

hey mate, my plates are pretty hard to read too, there must be 8 coats of paint on them, so even if you could read brail it'd do you no good.
All of my plates are now under the bonnet(have been since ive had the van) so you can look into having them moved if that suits your needs better.
One of the original plates is riveted, the other held by screws. I'm not sure how the gas compliance plate is attached.. i'll have to check..

I've been considering getting some aluminium and punching my own plates ::) legal would be better tho..

Mine came up with a light sand with very fine wet and dry. The numbers are all shiny now.

At the swap meets here in NZ there is a guy that sells brand new tags for most makes and models (unstamped originals I think) we got a swap meet coming up on the 16/17th Jan 2010 will check them out for you guys but looks like your tags might be different to what we have over here in NZ.

Any chance of getting a picture of a plate in good condition so can print it out and compare?
